I don't disagree, I have way more concern over the offense than the defense but to say Kupp has not been the same the last few years doesn't acknowledge that he's had some injury issues. Had he been healthy his production numbers would likely have been better. You could also say that his being injury prone for the last 3 seasons is in itself cause for concern and I would agree (most of it seems to be ankle related).

What are we getting with this guy is a valid question.

Which is why I was hoping JS was going to target a WR earlier in the draft or in FA. There's still time to bring in a legitimate starter like Keenan Allen or Amari Cooper.
JS did bring in a WR earlier, pick #50, TE/WR Elijah Arroyo. Also Horton was equivalent to a 2nd or 3rd rounder based on talent/potential.
DK was a distraction that wanted a huge new contract, Lockett was running on fumes.
Kupp/MVS/Arroyo/Horton > DK/Lockett
Our WR group is on the upswing, having JSN as the nucleus is solid insurance towards that. No worries.

Agree 💯

Arroyo & Horton will do just fine mitigating the DK trade.

I'd rather pay Kupp $15 million/year than Davante Adams (who is a year older) $22 million/year.
Maybe for the Seahawks but I think DA is going to have a monster year for the Rams. Davante has not had the injury history of Kupp either. I think this DA signing is going to be the equivalent of the Saquon Barkley signing of last year. I just think of that offense with Nacua and Stafford delivering the ball is going to be big.

he will have an affect, but not the equivalent of a young dynamic player that completely transformed an entire offense and is a home run threat every time he touches the ball.

That is hard for WRs to do and he is not a dynamic player anymore.

Also, speaking of nacua. he was often injured in college and played less games than Kupp last year. that guy seems to get rocked a lot

Good luck with that. If you have a suspect O-Line, a QB who gets rattled in the pocket, or if you don't have a home run receiving threat you'll struggle to score quick TDs. When any of that happens opposing defenses push closer to the LOS and the underneath offense also disappears. The Seahawks potentially have all 3 negative traits. I'm not convinced by the Seahawks offensive depth either. If everyone plays to their potential and avoids injuries then everything will be fine. As I said, good luck.
You send MVS deep to clear space for one of them to run medium depth and the other runs shorter route. Covering both Kupp and JSN on that is where I say “good luck.”

We are going to be a possession team and not so much a moonshot team, having guys that hand catch, run crisp routes and are fearless over the middle that can RAC is where we are going till the deep safety cheats up to stop the Run and underneath routes and dump passes to backs and seams to the TE.

Precisely. One advantage of this is that it takes pressure off the defense. The downside is that we’re probably not going to win many come-from-behind games, if we get behind on the scoreboard.

Jury is out on him. He definitely has not been the same the last few years. I know a lot of folks on this board have high hopes for the team next year, but the offense is definitely a huge question mark with all the new pieces.
If the defense is “good enough”, you only need a safety (2 pts) to win the game.

Relax Bro Tater.

Excited. Not worried at all. Not just because I'm a homer, I just feel good about this team moving forward.
#me2

Not “pound me also”

But until proven otherwise, I’m as excited as I have been for several seasons.

Love me some Pete era Seahawks but it was time to move on, and I can’t think of a single real complaint.

I could bitch and moan a bit, but if forced I could not back up my concerns with anything concrete.

I’m not convinced any of the complainers actually can.

don't know about that. DK was good for a once in a while home run. But Walker and JSN and MVS and probably even Arroyo make the team more than capable of big plays. Net sum of those players make it more exciting than losing DK and fall down lockett.

Chain movers are much more important than one trick ponies.

I don't see anyone having a "big year". I don't think thats how they are building this team. At least on offense.
Looks to me like the ball will be spread around ALOT! I see JSN getting the most reps of any WR though. Which probably translates to targets. But theres going to be alot of shuffling of players in and out between TE's, RB's and WR's. Theres a fair amount of "injury history" amongst our guys and this will help to mitigate that if possible. There certainly appears to be enough talent here to do that.

Not trying to be pissy at all. I don't disagree with your post above. Just saying there is always a risk of injury with any player, so making the the statement "not if he is on IR" is true for every player in the NFL, and goes without saying.
Yeah but I guy like kupp or say Jamal adams have a whole different stigma about them and injuries

Nah, 10 or 11 wins, but hope to be shocked that it's even more :)
10 wins would be a massive disappointment, not to mention that these days 10 wins is not enough to get into the playoffs like it use to.

11 wins is the minimum to possibly get in.

But dammit...I want more. Give me a game or two where Darnold helps the team win a game they have no business winning to get it to 12-5 or 13-4.

MVS is on his 4th team in 20 games. He's on a 1 year contract for $4M, (which is similar to what Lockett is getting). He is not a key component to a successful offense.

I know the coaches have been talking about using Arroyo as an X receiver and I hope that is the case. I'd love to see Arroyo and Barner on the field at the same time.

I agree DK needed to go.

I wish we could have kept Lockett for the $4mil Tennessee signed him for but if he wanted a change I understand.

My point being, Kupp, Arroyo and Horton are basically unknown commodities at this point, it would have been nice to get a known commodity like Keenan Allen in the receiver room to go along with JSN.
