It's more rare for all time players to be good at scouting/drafting than it is the reverse. Anything Brady thinks about the matter means little to me.

Exactly.

Why the hell are we discussing Geno and the Raiders, lol.

Tom Brady had multiple games where he threw multiple interceptions. He had 49 games with 2 or more interceptions, according to StatMuse. He also had 9 games with 3 or more interceptions, according to StatMuse. Additionally, he had 6 games where he threw exactly 4 interceptions, according to StatMuse.

This thread morphed a bit into our general opinions of Darnold.

I wasn't a fan of signing him. I can guess disapproval before I say this but I wouldn't have minded giving Justin Fields a try here for less money and draft someone. Especially if the Offense is going to rely heavily on the run. If that's the case, why pay all that for Darnold and also risk he flops like the last 2 games?

Fast forward... I've warmed up to our QB room, the plan with system, better coaching, focus on improving line, addition by subtraction in a couple of cases. Let it play out.

I'm really digging Coach Macdonald second year press conferences. Love his honesty about the media (while yes doing their jobs to get us to read) having stupid questions so early in the process. I'm cautiously optimistic with what's in place moving forward. We've got better depth and backup plan options.

So what, he's the best of all time.

That being said, couldn't give two sh*** about his opinion of Darnold.

Plus, Pete doubled down on an average, overrated QB who has never won a playoff game. And who rarely beats very good teams. Turnover machine in the red zone, holds the ball for a half an hour, pouts on the sidelines, claims "disrespect" etc.

It's hilarious, to me at least.

They call me… “Tater Salad” is all I could think of!

If our D has taken a step forward from last year, we’re just going to need Darnold to be smart and not turn the ball over.

Floor or ceiling aside, moving on from finger-pointing, sulky Geno needed to happen. Darnold still has room to grow, whereas our castoff is only going to grow into a bigger malcontent, especially when things don’t go his way.

Brady was a great QB, but his talent evaluation skills are still TBD.

Tom Brady hasn't publicly said anything negative about Darnold. This thread is based on a re-posting on the NY Times site of an article by Michael Silver that was in The Athletic. Here is the section relating to Brady, which isn't particularly damning:

Bradyqbchoice

The article is behind a paywall, (and it's fairly long), so i've added an edited .png image file, (basically missing a picture of Darnold and the site footer removed) in a .zip file below for anyone who wants to read what what was originally printed.

Just because someone was a great QB, it doesn't mean they are a great GM or talent evaluator. Several examples of great sports stars who were horrible as GM's or talent evaluators.

Tom Brady should leave QB evaluation to GM, coaches and scout. He was a great QB, that doesn't qualify him as a talent evaluator.

Just because you drive semi professionally for decades doesn't qualify you to design semis.
Kurt Warner has done some QB evaluation/breakdowns that I consider to be superb. If Denver had simply watched his breakdown on Russell Wilson, they wouldn't have opened the vault for him for $250M. Warner was spot-on.

Was there an article somewhere with Brady's actual thoughts/a breakdown of Darnold and Geno? The linked article was pretty vague, just that Brady thought Geno would be a better fit in Vegas than Darnold.

The thing is, the Hawks are not overly locked into Darnold. They can even move on from him at season's end without murderous financial consequences. The Hawks probably see SD as a two year thing until some better option comes along.
I thought Darnold looked better than Geno last year. Wonder what the squawk is all about.
