Geno isn't a stylistically-limited quarterback who has to play only in a very specific offense, but simultaneously does not want to play in said offense. That was all Russ.

It's still a team sport at the end of the day. It isn't the Seattle Genos. Wins aren't a quarterback stat, which is why I was critical of Russ when the team went 12-4.

People thinking wins ARE a quarterback stat is how you get a fanbase of mostly marks who thought Wilson leaving would cripple the team, though.

Talking some big s*** for a guy who, I'm assuming, doesn't at all want to go back to the preseason threads to see who ended up being more correct on this count.

Then again, if we think we’re going to win it all in the next 2 years, I can see us paying Geno, re-signing Lock….and hopefully, drafting accordingly.

Geno’s contract and who we draft this year are going to tell us exactly what PC and JS think our potential is/will be.

I kind of look at it like had the defense been stouter for Seattle the games your speaking of would've been closer.
I thought he did ok against KC and better against SF the 2nd time around.
Geno didn't lose those games but didn't take them over either. SF and KC are better than Seahawks as of now.

Great question. In my opinion, we’re not a draft away from going to the Superbowl.

If they pay $30M+ for Geno, that tells me they think we have a shot and I’d be totally confused if they drafted a QB in the first 5 rounds.

I do find it strange that there’s quite a few Team Geno folks that used to say things “PC just needs a game manager” or stated that the “system” made Russ (appears true to me). That line of thinking apparently worked for Geno.

Can’t we just slide “xXxx” in there, load up on defense and FA’s, and do well? Or, is a repeat performance of the last 6 years A-OK?

They also had really good offenses (both top 5), something our awful defense really struggled with.

KC defense finished 11th, behind NYJ and Denver, both who we beat, behind NO who beat us but who we also scored more points against (32) than all but 1 other team they played, and Tampa Bay who we just had a stinker against.

This is a fair assessment of the season KC had but on the biggest stage, the Super Bowl, that game was won by the Chiefs defense and lost by the porous Eagles secondary.

But it's also disingenuous to say Geno couldn't win with an offense designed for a completely different type of QB.

The bottom line is that the idea of chasing the next Mahomes strikes me as stupid. The NFL is not the NBA.

Aaron Rodgers has won how many Super Bowls? A team like Denver who thinks they're one QB away, how does that turn out?

Geno gave a top 5 season. If we can get him back on a fair market value (which is unfortunately much higher than people want to admit) sign him. If you can't, don't.

But landing the next Patrick Mahomes isn't a strategy, it's playing the Lottery.

Also worthy of note: The offense with the balanced attack producing more run yardage won the super bowl. The unbalance offense that threw and threw and threw the ball some more ....... lost.

Gotta stop with that spiel, and by that I mean you need to be honest, and give a COMPLETE Picture of WHY THE SEAHAWKS as a TEAM, and >NOT JUST GENO< who lost to the Whiners.

Pete Carroll wasn't BS'n when he said that the Seahawks Defense was tremendously outmatched, and you just now admitted that the Seahawks might get beaten by the Cowboys BECAUSE THEIR DEFENSE has damned good DEFENSIVE PERSONNEL, never mind Quinn; Do you HONESTLY believe that Quinn could take last season's Seahawks rag-tag Defensive personnel and beat the 49rs???, I sure as hell ain't buying that fable.

In literal terms, no doubt. But all of us have made an investment in this team. Aside from the ridiculously priced seats, hot dogs, beer and assorted paraphernalia, time is money and how much time do we spend discussing and even promoting this team? Nope, we don't cut any checks but if we want a championship team we all know monies need to be spread around wisely.

If DK dropped 10 straight TD passes, would you say "I don't care, I'm not paying the guy"? I think we all feel a huge connection to the Seattle Seahawks, so it's not unreasonable to feel like it's our money that they're spending. Just my opinion and I probably obsess too much over these things (including the draft and FA). I'll be the first to admit I have issues, so I get it if others do not share my feelings on this topic.

The fact we were a 9-8 wildcard team but went 0-4 against the very mediocre NFC south speaks more about our lackluster defense than Geno's play IMHO.

Saints 39-32
Bucs 21-16
Panthers 30-24

Lost those four games by 22 points, a better run D would take opposing points away and put the ball in Geno's hands enough to win at least two of those games. 2022 overall, we scored 407 points & gave up 401, the 9ers- 450 PF, 277 PA.
I love Geno, but not at 32M per, around 20M is my max and that's with a very creative team friendly deal. I'd rather draft a QB and sign Lock to a cheap one year prove it contract. Tampa & Canales have the worst cap situation in the league at 50M over and plenty of dead $. I think they (TB) are more likely to go after Lock than GS, the price of both QB's will be driven up before all is said & done.
In free agency and the draft my highest priorities are 2 DTs, 2 LBers, center, OG and QB if John & Pete fall in love with one.

Our worst 22' losses were-
9ers 27-7
Chargers 37-23
9ers 21-13
Chiefs 24-10
WC 9ers 41-23

We have cap room & draft picks, I'd rather start this new era with a talented young QB and use the cap savings on FA's to improve the O-line & defense. BTW, its not Geno's fault we didn't beat SF & KC... he has earned his payday. I just don't think we should overpay him and our longtime future success will be greater if we find that franchise QB in the next couple of years.

I agree in that IF they nail this draft , they're still a couple of years away from being a true contender

Geno is a one hit wonder, and his numbers are like an NBA player who leads the league in scoring, but the team misses the playoffs. I know Seattle seems so close, but they are miles away from competing for a Championship. You build from the O and D lines outward. A QB with no O line is broken soon. A Defense without a D line, is shredded. Don't waste QB money on one player, just don't. You can find one later when the team is ready.
