A fresh MMQB interview from Albert Breer and a press conference with the Raiders finally let NFL fans hear from former Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith, weeks after he was traded to Vegas.

If you were hoping for a polarizing quote, it didn’t disappoint.

The line in question?

“When you’re talking about business and you’re talking about a quarterback who wants not only to get paid — every player wants to get paid — but to be respected, that’s the most important thing,” Smith said to Breer. “It’s the respect factor. And I just feel like there was a disconnect there.”

It didn’t go over well with everyone.

Truth.

It's funny. When I had employees, there were 3 very specific ones that I had taken a chance on, and employed, contrary to their employment history, situation, and other things. They just weren't a typical hire, and no one else would have taken a chance on a couple of them, but I did, and things worked out GREAT. For a while.

It's funny how quickly gratitude turns to entitlement.

Wah Wah. When Geno didn't have Pete to stroke his ego, and calm him down and 'center' him, he became a tantrum based douche.

From screaming at fans in the stands to the constant sideline moping it was quite evident he felt wronged and entitled.

I may not agree with everything surrounding the offseason here, but one thing I DO know: I'm glad that a bunch of cancer that didn't 'seem' like cancer until the final year here, is gone.

And ya, that includes GeNO, as well as DK, as well as Lockett. **** 'em. As well as Me3 in the background constantly stirring the pot and feeding the fire(s) on the SMS backchannel.

This is how I felt Geno came off the entire time. He is still immature even after all these years. He thinks the world of himself and 35 mill is disrespect apparently. OK, or you could be grateful they gave you a back up job when no one else was interested. Gave you a big contract when no other team in the entire NFL was willing to.
Yeah, so disrespected. So mistreated, so wronged. He had one good year and even the second half of that year wasn't great.

I don't get what's so divisive about this.

We've always wanted players with chips on their shoulders - so why do we get all pissy when these guys have chips on their shoulders? This is barely even a chip, honestly.

He wanted to be given a couple of years of security. Didn't even ask for top-12 QB money. Seattle didn't want to give it, Las Vegas did. Geno discusses why that mattered to him. Why is this controversial?

I get that people are going to think I'm just glazing Geno here, but... seriously, how is this inspiring so much anger? It's an incredibly, incredibly mild quote.
