Geno Smith does not quit.

Drafted at a slot that doesn't reflect your caliber to a nonsense team?

Geno Smith does not quit.

Flame out in first NFL action?

Geno Smith does not quit.

Teammate breaks your jaw because you've got a bit of growing to do?

Geno Smith does not quit.

Bounce around as a backup, with every opportunity to start being taken away before it comes to pass?

Geno Smith does not quit.

Russell goes down in Seattle. You lead the team 98 yards down the field off the bench and almost engineer the comeback, but lose on an INT where your receiver tripped?

Geno Smith does not quit.

Lose your job back to Russ?

Geno Smith does not quit.

Win the starting job in 2022, have a career renaissance?

Geno Smith was there because he didn't quit.

Play for years with no rushing support, no defensive support, and no line?

Geno Smith does not quit.

The coach who believed in you more than anyone else did got fired and you've gotta start from square one with a new staff?

Geno Smith does not quit.

Fans think you're a headcase because you show a little emotion from time to time?

Geno Smith does not quit.

New offensive staff is somehow worse than the old one and you're getting teed off on weekly with an even worse rushing game?

Geno Smith does not quit.

Throw a terrible pick in a close game against a rival that you haven't yet been able to beat, a fact which the doubters repeat ad nauseam?

Geno Smith does not quit.

Headcases quit. Geno Smith does not quit.

I think too much emphasis is being put on the QB position but the league has changed once more. Need a solid team to play complimentary football. That is how the Steelers defeated the Ravens and that is how the Seahawks move forward.

I love that he once again had a good drive to close out the game. Great job by Geno and your right he didn't quit and that is important. I will say your constant casting all blame on our coaching staff and almost none on on Geno is a bit laughable.
I put plenty of blame on the dude when he does badly.

As far as the overall plight this team finds itself in, that is largely on the offensive coaching staff. It just is. Laugh all you want.

I loved watching all the "well he can't do this" in his first year, only to watch him do exactly that, and do it better than most. About the only thing left is post-season success.

Geno is elite.
Geno is weird, so cocky in such a weird way. He plays horrible then we finally win cause they forgot to account for him and he walks off the field with sleepy pillow hands, like what your their nightmare, or you put them to bed? Maybe finally I didn’t become Seahawks fans nightmare… I still think he’s a headcase

It's only in the losing streak funk here that I've ever really thought Geno might be the problem.

Oline, JS's allergy to fixing it, and Grubbs stubborn resistance to take what the Oline/opposing Dline is giving him, and get creative with playcalling both with the Running Backs on the outside, as well as pitch plays and jet sweep pre motion kinda stuff is just infuriating. I even quoted the stat that Geno's tied for league high interceptions - but I wasn't saying that it was his fault.

It's hard to put everything on Geno's shoulders - and I've said this before - he only has 1.5 seconds to dump the ball out. THAT's on the OC. Scheme. You can scheme around any weakness.

He was a headcase 2 weeks ago against the Rams. Glad he got his head on straight for most of this one. He did have a blip on the first drive of the 2nd half with the INT but was able to pull through in the clutch.

Just to clarify, here, Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow came into this week tied for 3rd highest Passer Success Rate in the league at 52.8%. Geno Smith had a 52.8% Success Rate this game.

He had a very stupid INT and that really annoying snap fumble thing which we've seen too much of this year, but you don't put up a top 5 level success rate by having one good play.

That's not how that works.

He was nails when it mattered. Tip of the cap. Made up for his ridiculous pick earlier in the game. Finally, he stepped it up against the Niners. He was possessed that last drive.

Lol. Geno might not quit, but you need to. This is a bit over the top Mael. He has good games and bad games, but he's fairly solid all things said. Will he ever be better than a .500 QB with post season success? I don't know, but times running out. The excuse's of circumstances needs to stop for him. Sometimes you have to make your own circumstances.

Your dislike for the guy vs adoration for his predecessor is comical. You ALWAYS have to caveat anything he does with an *.

Simple way to put this issue to rest. Name me one single qb in the history of the league who EVER managed to get a team with a bottom 3 online, defense and rushing attack to a winning record, let alone the playoffs. If you can do that, theres an argument to be had.

Should be simple as I didn't say in the last 10 or 20 years. Ever, in history is fine.

Or, you can just tell me what team in league history had a bottom 3 rushing attack, bottom 3 o line, and bottom 3 defense and managed to finish with a winning record. If there has ever been one other than our Seahawks i dont know it, and if there ever was, i GUARANTEE you it didnt have an average player at QB.

I have said this a million times. In no universe does an 'average' qb play on a team with the worst running game, worst defense, worst o line, and manage to get his team to a winning record. You wont find one ever.

And Geno isnt him now. Because its simply not possible. You dont add average to horrible and get 'better than average'.

And you are calling Mael's post 'over the top'?

The constant effort to qualify every good thing the dude does is the only thing that's over the top.

The Niners game was FAR from his best game. We have lost games that we should have won because of TDs that were called back, TD catches that were not made, drives that were stalled because of drops, INTs caused by poor routes and penalties FAR more often than Geno has been the cause.

Yet you seem to forget how many times those things have occured and choose only to recall when he 'screws up'. Even when neutral parties, not even associated with .net reviewing film summarize the INts that he's made as more often than not, not entirely his fault.

As Mael said, we have one of the grittiest qbs in the league slinging the ball for us. Coaches have said it. His teammates hail him for it. Nothing mael stated hasnt been echoed a hundred times by the guys that coach him or play alongside him.

Grubb just this week went so far as to say that Geno is elite and as good as it gets when the line gives him time. That there isnt a single throw he cant make.

Macdonald just sunnarized Geno's play as not being any different than what he has been doing and has repeatedly called 'Geno's mistakes as 'team' errors as much as anything else.

At some point folks just have to come to grips with the fact that Geno is a very very good qb.

Hes only average in the world of fantasy football.

Keyword there being 'fantasy'.

The idea that quarterbacks alone are capable of "making their own circumstances" is an utterly fanciful view of the sport that ignores the basic reality of football being a team sport.

However, if you're looking for a quarterback who HAS made their own circumstances to as large of a degree as any other:

How about the league leader in game winning drives since 2022?

How about the guy who has quarterbacked 2 winning seasons despite every other unit of his team being putrid?

How about the guy who has continually overcome circumstances in which the deck was stacked against him and still is here leading comeback victories?

Sorry, but there's a line here. No quarterback does it all. Every single one needs support. Burrow is 4-7 right now. Allen has never won a Super Bowl despite having way better performance around him. Patrick Mahomes has paltry production right now but his team is winning because their defense is fantastic and the offense is doing enough.

There is a hard limit to "making your own circumstances" as an NFL quarterback, and Geno Smith has gotten as close to those limits as anyone else in the league.

The argument you continue to use for Geno is old and tiresome. You act as if no other QB in the history of the league is capable of replicating what Geno has done with the bad lines, defenses, and coaching and it's just nonsense. If Geno Smith is so special, why did he sit for so many years behind other QB's (QB's that haven't done what your looking for) and why has he had nothing but an average career overall? Again, he's a solid QB, but nothing special in the scope of NFL QB's. I'm not capping on the guy as he has performed pretty well, but he isn't God's gift to the QB position either.
