So the 2 TD's he scored the week before were phantom catches?
The two passes that were not fought for, were crucial mistakes.
I could understand ONE, but two Weeks in a row?, I'm not sold.

All I think is that, for the production he's giving, I think there is a cheaper alternative. He's been good and has done a lot for this team, but I think for his salary, we could find someone that does something similar for a lot less. He's been a good teammate and I'm sure would love to stay here, but with all the salaries that need to be paid, I'm not sure if it would be a smart move to keep him here. But for those saying we should cut him now, that is a incredibly bad decision. In the off season though, maybe.

Tate caught 1 ball last week, same as Rice, THAT was all on O-Line. Cut him too?

Part of that is on Bevell for not getting the ball out quick which is part of making adjustments. We all know our line is suffering, why not help all the receivers and QB by at least calling some plays to help both of them. Slants....3 step drops, bubbles....Where are they when we need them. They are going to keep blitzing us because it is working.

Get that ball out quick and in space, THAT will help everyone.

When he scores again, nothing is for sale to you....Bye. And I will be here to remind you when it happens, and it WILL happen often.

Just put a receiver in at LT. It would be more useful.

I'm a huge fan of Rice, not even considering giving up on him. Please get a couple TD's on Sunday Sid, show everyone what's up.

You're going to need to consider it in the offseason becuase if he doesn't renegotiate a smaller cap number, he's going to likely be cut. Miller too. Nothing against them, but they've earned their gauranteed money, their pro-rated money isn't too high compared to their contracts so the dead money hit is better absorbed now than later.

I think my biggest issue with Rice is that I don't see him come back and fight for the ball like you see from Tate, Baldwin, and Kearse. He's good at going up in traffic and getting the ball but when the scramble's on you have to come back and fight for the ball. This has been Baldwin's bread and butter this season and that's why he's leading our team in receptions. Once we start protecting RW consistently, Rice's numbers will bump back up.

Whether he's worth a $10 million cap hit next year while we'll also have Harvin making similar money and young stars that need to be locked into long term contracts... :stirthepot:

I know, we have played 5 games and are 4-1 and they want to hang everyone/everything. Why bother?

People are mad at rice cause of that money combined with his lack of playmaking ability for that money. if we are mad at him for that price what makes people think that some other team will be happy to take that hit?

To make matters worse he chooses the WORST possible times to take plays off (that last play for that lead to an interception could easily have been fought for if that was golden. Sid just stepped back and let dude catch it as if he didn't know the ball was coming his way).

Don't think this warrants the 2008 trade everybody and start Charlie Whitehurst crowd though, didn't this dude come back from getting something drained a few weeks before the season? most likely injured. has no release on his first step right now. would have been nice to have harvin take the pressure off.

I just want the best recievers on the field. And right now Tate, Baldwin, Kearse are doing more with the same amount of targets as Rice. Take from that what you want. At this point i'd rather see Kearse getting more opportunities...

You see, I'M NOT ADVOCATING CUTTING RICE, but I do believe he's a LOT better than he has shown himself to be, in these last two games.
He comes back for the last pass thrown to him, and it probably doesn't get intercepted, the Seahawks have a fighting chance in winning this lopsided officiated game.
As I said before, IF Rice isn't physically 100%, then we need to find a fix until he is, but ignoring his mistakes is not positive thinking, eh?.

Hey Largent80...you know this bunch. It's always, "What have you done for me lately?"

Sidney Rice is a 6'4" WR1 on a Superbowl contender. His catch rate % since RW has taken over < RW's completion %. That should say it all.

Really?....Take a look at stats. Who has the LEAST targets of those you mentioned, (except Kearse) and WHO has the most touchdowns.?

We are the only team in the NFL paying 2 WRs over $8 mil each. As you point out, we are a run first team. 1 of those WRs is injured and hasn't played. The other has played and has made no meaningful impact outside of 1 game against the worst team in the NFL. We have a number of key players due for an extension this offseason.

Even if Rice was having a respectable season, he'd likely be gone next year absent a major contract restructuring considering the other guys we need to extend. As it stands, he is likely one of the top 3 or so overpaid players in the NFL and his production is pathetic. You watch him play and something is missing. He never gets separation. You can make excuses all you want for him, but the facts clearly point to the conclusion that he is going to be gone next year.

FACTS

1. It has been 5 games. we are 4 - 1. breathe.

2. Rice was part of two game winners (NE, CHI,) last year (one in which he knowingly took the knockout blow), and was responsible for a key possession in the home game against SF (the one in the first quarter where he comes down RIGHT ON HIS KNEE, causing everyone but him to wince in pain).

3. He has flown out to switzerland to get some operation as recently as right before the season.

4. Guess who caused cushing to finally go out of the game.
The solution may be for the other recievers to step it up so we can actually take advantage of the double teams he is taking on.

I wanna give him the rest of the season before deeming him a bum all of a sudden, but I would like to give kearse a few more touches to light a fire under him.
