It's a sad state of affairs that you don't understand what gameday forum is about. Sorry we don't all sit there dispassionately and drink tea. People allergic to overreaction should avoid the gameday forum, not sit passing judgment.
Well then it's fine to overreact and spew vitriol all over the place if it is because you are Passionate. The gameday forums were an order of magnitude worse than any discussion at the game yesterday, but perhaps I was simply standing in a dispassionate section.

Tell you what how about you write down the rules of what folks can say and how they can say it and then they'll all follow them. I think that's the best solution, instead of just...avoiding forums and threads that are going to fail to live up to your standards.

Glad that's settled.

I'm glad he was able to eventually make a positive contribution with the great catch yesterday. I guess that made up for the stupid fumble. Doesn't change the fact that his contract is terrible and he is very likely gone next year. All we can hope for is that he makes a positive contribution this season and then we can all move on.

Surely those are not mutually exclusive?

I think any discussion forum is more interesting when posters take a few seconds to decide what they actually think about something before they post. Cluttering everything with "venting hate" does not meaningfully add to discussion, and so yes I would prefer it if posters found more constructive ways to demonstrate their fandom. You may value the empathy aspect more than I do, but posters can criticize outcomes without overreaching into making it personal based on incomplete information.

To be clear, that does not apply to this thread. What I am referring to is posting something you would otherwise not because it is an emotional outlet and not a rational piece of discussion. While I disagree with them a little, the posters criticizing Rice here have good points.

I'm pulling for Rice to get right.

I'm a Rice fan but that fumble was a dumb dumb mistake. It seemed like he knows he is on the hot seat and was trying to make something happen by stretching the ball out.

At least he ended the night with a positive (spectacular) catch. Hopefully that will give him some momentum.

Exactly. A case of a competitor trying too hard. I am certain he is frustrated by his limited opportunities, thus far.

You can officially SUCK IT.

Heh. How did I know the contents of your post just from seeing that you'd brought it back up?

Nothing said about him previously was untrue. But its great to finally see him earn his giant game check again and help the team win in a big way. He's still gone next year absent a hugely reworked contract.

Hahaha. Pretty sure people will stick by their hate and want to cut him now. Yesterday, even.

I give PC&JC credit for knowing when to get rid of an underperforming cap-sucking player. The fact that Rice is still around tell me they think he has value to the team that is at least greater than the cap difference between keeping him and letting him go.

Besides... does anybody want to see Rice paying against us at San Francisco? Anybody?
