So what exactly is your expectation for the Seahawks?

Here is a team that arguably had one of the best D's ever... Because of salary cap and emerging Players like Wilson and other issues, they were not able to keep the LOB and the D as a whole together... Sad but true...

Now the Hawks have to rebuild their D and they Have had a year or 2 to do that, So what is a realistic expectation?

IMO they have done a good job in replacing guys that are irreplaceable... you dont replace guys like RS and KC, CA, ET overnight... these guys are special ... The Hawks had to make some hard choices and they made the choices that they thought were the best choices as hard as that is for fans that LOVE these players.

Now the Hawks had a decent draft seems like the rooks are not contributing as much as the Rooks in the past but that's ok... it takes time to grow into complicated roles and it takes time to learn how to play together. Why is that not a realistic expectation?

So what's the expectation? Do you think its a reasonable expectation for the Hawks to rebuild their D, and D that live up to the standard of the recent past, in the time they have had to do it in?

Hawks are 5-2 this season
Carroll has the Seahawks in the playoffs every year he has coached but two
Seahawks have been in two SB in the Carroll era

Why is there not cause for optimism?

My expectation is what it is every year under Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson and that is to make the playoffs. From there, anything can happen. I don't know if they will end up with the 1 or 2 seed (that would be lovely) but I do expect them to be in the post season. Hopefully 49ers can come down to earth and we can win the division this year and hopefully wind up with a bye.

Tired of going on the road and losing in the divisional round. So I guess for me this year, with Russ on pace for his first MVP season, is to be nothing short of being in the NFC Championship game.

We are missing way too many pieces and if not for RW would be sitting on a much lower record. Growth is the factor and I'm not convinced we are or will be a legit playoff team by the end of the season.

We may end up riding RW into the playoffs but we won't really have any business being there. I'm thinking wild card and 1 and done. I believe we could go further if RW was given the full reigns, our offenses primary function is keeping the defense off the field, stop time managing and we start scoring fast and often.

We have the most important pieces. We have a positive winning culture that starts with the coach and Wilson. 10 maybe 11 wins. We will probably drop an easy game and win one most dont think we will. Hopefully rattle some cages in the playoffs. I dont think we are that far away on D. We will never see an LOB again.

My expectation is that we'll be sitting at 6-2 after this Sunday. Not concerned with anything beyond that at the moment (regarding the Seahawks, obviously).

Probably more modest than what we'll produce.

I said last year, I thought it would take 3 good drafts to reload the team. The fact that we're reforming the core and still managing to achieve or on pace to achieve double digit wins and playoff appearances is impressive.

The team is currently on the verge of bad on defense. We're solidly in the latter third of the league in almost all metrics (save scoring). We are good on offense, although rather poor in rushing offense.

It does kind of feel like this record is smoke and mirrors to a degree. Kind of like how the Mariners started out. But Wilson has a way of masking our shortcomings. And truth be told, most teams are deficient in one or more aspects.

Right now, I'm just enjoying a compelling product on the field. While knowing that we're doing it during a rebuild. That in itself is pretty remarkable. To think that a season and a half ago we had:

Michael Bennett
Sheldon Richardson
Cliff Avril
Frank Clark
Richard Sherman
Kam Chancellor
Earl Thomas
Justin Coleman

That is a ton of quality no longer on this team. Shouldn't be a surprise that the road back is going to be long.

10-6 to 11-5.

The 9ers, more 13-3 to 12-4.

That front 4 defensively is almost a generational phenom as LOB was. And then they have Ward back who's kinda like the Juice Check of the secondary. Swiss Army knife.

Where we're clearly better than them is Wilson and Lockett. That combo's been enough to get teams past one-and-done alone. And at least the Baltimore loss has imparted a sense of urgency that wasn't there with all the razor-thin wins.

I don't expect the Rams to contend even with Ramsey aboard. Sure, when we meet next count on him targeting Lockett, but RW largely spreads the ball around with accuracy on his end. They're 7-9, 9-7. The Cards are less predictable week to week, but probably will end up a little better or worse than Rams for the year.

I'm sticking with 10-6 . Tough second half of the schedule coming up though. What's disheartening is that if Wilson doesn't have the perfect game...the rest of the team can't step it up . It's a hard road to the playoffs ; when everything rides on 1 player .IMO

10-6. Hovering right around making playoffs and not.

I’ve lessened my expectations of them recently cause their drafts have not been good.

9-7, 10-6 territory swift exit from the wildcard round, or perhaps divisional round. That has been the story with this team since 2015, and that story will soon repeat.

My heart says 11-5.
My mind says 9-7 given the difficult schedule now.
I'll split the difference, so 10-6.

To win MVP honors, Russ needs to be super efficient and either have a defining game in prime time otherwise carry Seahawks to an NFC West title. Seahawks must be playoff bound...hopefully 10-6 will suffice.

Road Wildcard team. Likely one and done. I can see us giving the Eagles or Cowboys a good game if they are the 3 or 4 seed. I don't want us in Chicago, Green Bay or Minnesota for the playoffs.

The problem is that we have all seen what a dominant championship team looks like. I get it, that team was a rarity or outlier--it's unfair to judge this team based on that SB team. But damn it this team doesn't pass the eye test.

The Seahawks now look similar to other teams we have seen over the years...and we know how it turned out for those other teams.

Parity I guess.......

For those of you that answered something like, "I'm just focused on the next game":

Why? Are you on the team, so you're studying Atlanta's film, etc.; or is it just superstition? Not criticizing, just wondering... I have strange quirks too.

I'm pretty sure fans focusing on the next game has no effect on the outcome, much like how I throw darts before the game so that they all end up on 12 has no effect.
