Despite a strip fumble td and a near pick 6 Russ managed game
pretty well otherwise with Penny rocking and the D fighting hard.
We could and should have been doing this more.
Peteball wins!I'm still stoked off that game! :irishdrinkers:

Yup. Even before Penny's hot streak, we were a top 5-10 running team by ypc ~4.6. With the exception of the Saints and WFT games we've been able to run at a really good clip. Shame we didn't do it more this year.

That was McVay ball.

Jet/Zoom motion pre-snap, outside zone, get defenders going laterally instead of pinning their ears back and going strait ahead. Booting the QB, using the TE, widening the field, putting defenders in conflict, which creates wide open targets when they guess wrong. Using tempo, getting to the LoS in a timely fashion.

Shane Waldron is a great OC when he is allowed to run his offense proper.

How much is Pete controlling Waldon, in general?

90%?

80%?

50%?

Less?

Hahaha

When it works, its Waldron-ball.

When it doesn't, its Pete-ball.

Teams been booting all year. Teams been top-5 in play action frequency all year. Teams been using tempo all year, 7th fastest team to snap in the league prior to this game.

Except literally none of that is true, because the vast majority of what he listed has been present all year.

May not be the year that the team had. But at least they ended up on a high note. Hope you all can come back over in the #12thman.

Except your totally Wong and it has not been present all year. Even Hass in his show last week said it.

Nobody that has basic football 101 needs to be told the offense looked different than the other 14 weeks that looked like the same offense of 9 years of Pete.

Nobody that follows the Seahawks even casually should have to have someone tell them that as well.

It's not really due to a scheme change so much as simple execution, though.

The same staples continue to be in the offense. The blocking scheme is the same they've been running all season. They're just executing better.

It's a gross oversimplification and honestly pretty insane to think that some weeks Pete is calling the shots, and others he's letting Waldron. It's just plain ludicrous. Nothing whatsoever supports that notion.

I know you need other people to tell you what to think, but it's plain and simply horseshit to imply that pretty much anything seen scheme-wise in these past 2 games differs much from what has been run all season long.

Sure, there's been evolution, but absolutely nothing about the past couple of games has been largely different or new. It's just led to better results than it did before due to an improving quarterback off injury and an absolute revelation at running back.

If any of you with a straight face are gonna tell me that Seattle hasn't been utilizing outside zone, a high rate of play action, horizontal stress, and tempo on offense for basically the entire year, then you're simply not comprehending what you're seeing. Because it's all there.

This 1000%. Execution issues happen to teams sporadically throughout seasons, not for 14 straight games.

And shoot, after what we saw yesterday, if someone can't just enjoy the hell out of that win....they never will enjoy wins.
Does it make up for a crap season, of course not. But I'm feeling a hell of a lot better after that game.
Now, hopefully we some legit change, it's time imo.

and i love that people actaully beleive that Pete let Waldron do his thing week one and then shut it down after that glowing success. Only to let him bring it back in week 18.

I also don't think people underestimate the value of a stud running back and the confidence he can bring to an offensive line. Sorry but Alex Collins doesn't scare any defense.

After week 1 Pete came out publicly and said Waldron understands now how he wants things done and the offense falls right back to the same predictable stuff we see every year. Coincidence? People seriously think that the team took 14 games to grasp a new offense when they seemingly had it figured out in week 1? Sorry, but that is the definition of delusional.

Pete and Shane are part of a team, they work together and make decisions together, just like any team players do. If Pete didn't like how the offence was being run, Shane would be gone. If Shane didn't like Pete interfering, he would be gone. All the clueless people second guessing and they have no idea what's going on, but they know a lot more about football and management that the management, the coaches, the players and the various experts. Try enjoying the game and stop with the second guessing..

When you see 6 years of the same thing under 3 different OC's, you cant help but to second guess.
