I think most of us fell in love with Sam and no doubt want him to be our starter for the foreseeable future.

But, it’s a business. At the end of the day, it’s a business. When the time comes, I hope we can re-sign, extend…whatever…at a decent price.

If him and his agent command a top 10 salary, who are you guys willing to sacrifice? We’re talking a high caliber (or two) type player(s).

It’s a huge stretch to say Milroe is ready to be #2…let alone that he’s starting caliber. But, I really like the fact that he has a window to develop and that there is little to no pressure to have him ready in the next couple of seasons.

What are we really missing out on with that 53rd roster spot?

As far as Milroe goes, I wouldn't mind it at all if he developed into Sam's backup QB.

But whether it's as a backup or as a trade-piece, it's a damn good thing to see him improve as a QB.

No, if he isn't a future HoF QB today CUT HIM. That's my expectation from 3rd round pick QBs - the fact that he wasn't Day 1 starter last year shows he's never going to make it

Yep, we have a super human athlete that gets to learn sit back and learn the Shanahan offense for 3-4 years. If he genuinely has taken the next step (and he'll have to start stacking days and show a bit in preseason), then what does he look like NEXT year after another year's work? I don't know that this franchise has ever invested in a developmental QB. That's what smart franchises do. He's either grows into the starter by 2028/29, grows into the backup, serves as a valuable trade piece, or gets cut. I don't get the urgency to jump to the "gets cut".

Unlikely as I think Sam will be the fully-entrenched (and long-term) starter of this team going forward.

Worst Case Scenario for everyone (and I find this one equally as unlikely to happen).


Bottom Line is that his continued improvement as a QB is the best thing for everyone and I hope it continues.

Agreed that Darnold is entrenched as a top-10 NFL QB for the next 2-3 years. But then you get to 2029, and Milroe is 26. If (and it's still a big if) he truly develops, it becomes a great problem to have.

I'm a huge Darnold fan and think he is closer to top 5 in the league than the middle of the pack where he is usually ranked but I love having Milroe and seeing stuff like this is a good thing. He's a unicorn. The odds are he won't become an elite guy but I love that the team is developing him and seeing what they have because you never know. This seems like the perfect team to develop under. Great problem to have.

If JS extends Darnold next offseason, it will probably be for 3 more years (at a high-but-not-too-high number) tacked onto his current deal which would actually make it a 4-year-deal that would take him to 33-years-old.

I guess it also depends on where we're at as far as what Darnold has done or accomplished by then.

But I just...I don't know...I guess I'm way biased but I'd like to see Darnold retire a Seahawk, you know?

I'm sure Sam's had enough of traveling to different teams and would rather stay in one place from now on.

I want JS to continue building in a way that sustains long-term success. The Price-for-Walker transition is a good example of that. In reality, we have 3 more seasons to evaluate the situation before any decisions need to be made (or 2 if we're looking to trade Milroe).
