Green’s news puts a damper on the opening day of training camp.

That's really sad. Underrated as hell RB who was great for a long time. One of our dumbest trades ever. Granted it would sad even if he hasn't been good.

Just saw this on ESPN, sad indeed. Hope Ahman caught this early and does as well as can be expected.

And, yes, one of, if not THE, dumbest trades ever. If I ever met Mike Holmgren, I'd ask him about that trade and if he'd do it over again. Just an all time face palm of a move.

Was it really THE dumbest trade or the most “what if” trade.
Sure he blossomed in GB, but there is absolutely no guarantee that he would have here.
Mike H. hated fumbles with a passion, and while Green was here that was an issue.

Aside from that, although not directly related to the Green trade we ended up with Alexander.

I’m well aware that many fans hate/hated that trade. And absolutely the guy we got didn’t amount to anything of real value.

That's an interesting what if scenario. Is it possible Shaun never gets the chance to shine if we hadn't traded Green? While neither Vinson, nor Booty, ever amounted to anything, one has to wonder if the door would have been closed for Shaun to become the premiere back, and it would have been Green running behind Hutchinson and Jones.

I wholeheartedly believe it was Mike H’s hate for fumbles.
I don’t recall numbers but I do remember it being an issue.

Head scratcher absolutely, I just can’t call the trade our worst.

Yea for me it’s a “big picture” thing.
Although Green flourished @GB, we didn’t end up in a bad place due to the trade.
Puzzling trade absolutely, just not the worst IMHO

I personally consider the J. Adam’s AND the Max Unger trades way worse.

My main criteria is how did we ultimately end up after, and what did we give up/pay.

At the time Green wasn’t all that, we really didn’t give up a lot, and we ended up in pretty dam good shape (especially in the RB room)

And the Percy Harvin trade. All three were worse than the Ahman trade.

Green was an absolute home run hitter. Even at the time, I remember the trade seeming short-sighted. Fumbles can be worked on. The talent was undeniable.

Worked out great for Green obviously, but imagine the one-two punch he and Alexander could have provided behind that OL. May have extended Alexander's career. Maybe one eventually pushes for a trade, but by then we're getting a haul instead of Fred Vinson.
