Let's give Rice some credit... he had a great game against the Jaguars! (I kid)

I'm not sure if Rice is supposed to be the first read in the majority of passing plays or not, but RW doesn't do first reads much (due to pass pro, double teams or otherwise).

You know when you're Asian,

When you missed the 4 weeks, Rice, Curry, and "Red" Bryant were all teammates.

Which takes me back, since 2011, Rice has exactly done in his 30 games he's played as a Seahawk?

About 3.0 catches a game, about 46 yards per game, and about .37 TDs per game.

His he a WR that makes other WRs better? I thought so at first, but I don't see it now.

Rice just hasn't been producing for the cost of his contract, I can see why people are upset with him. If he was making 2-3 million a year, this would be a total non issue. But he's making good money for doing nothing.

He had a good year in 2012 but disappeared in the 2nd half at times. The 6'4, 205 pound Rice has also been outplayed by the 5'10, 190 pound Doug Baldwin in 2011 and now 2013. Rice is also being outplayed by Kearse and rookie Luke Willson.

There was a reason Seahawks threw 3 draft picks at Minnesota plus 10-12 million per for Percy Harvin. Its not because they were just trying to be a thorn in the Niner's side. I'm thinking that reason is more and more Rice. More or less Rice probably has degenerative body parts and has no more upside even though he's only 27.

Geez louise, he led the team in receiving just LAST YEAR. We're 4-1 now, and the dude has actually managed to stay on the field unlike a number of our players. Unless you're watching the All-22, please give it a freakin' rest. Carroll himself said today that he couldn't evaluate the wide receivers right now because of issues with the O-line and that's WITH the coach's tape.

Has Rice ever once complained about being stuck in an offense that averages the the least pass attempts in the entire league? No. I'm sure he'd love to be in Green Bay or New England's offense where he'd get 10 catches a game just by showing up, but that's not our team. Our own fans need to start understanding that. We have a team where your catch totals could literally double after ONE game and can vary wildly from season-to-season (Baldwin, anyone?). Keep it in perspective.

Sidenote - I also believe Rice's knee is in much worse shape than we all realize. He is getting absolutely no separation on any of these routes. I mean GREG TOLER was sticking to him.

I think Rice is gutting it out right now because Harvin's down.

I agree. Thing is, everyone just assumes Rice isn't getting open because he's getting double teamed. I'm watching replays in slow mo and I'm not seeing it all the time.

I like Rice. I defended him a lot last year when most people were bagging on him for not staying healthy, and I was pointing out he was in every game and taking some big hits and getting back up from them. He was also the best WR we had at coming back to the ball and ad libbing with Russell. This year, he's just not. I don't think he can plant and come back on that knee.

I see him getting cut or restructured next year. It's not because of it's Rice, or anything else. It's because we're a run first team that can't afford to pay two #1 WRs when we don't get the production out of that position to warrant it.

I doubt he breaks 500 yards this year and that's not worth a 9.7 million cap hit..... No matter how you cut it.

I just want the best recievers on the field. And right now Tate, Baldwin, Kearse are doing more with the same amount of targets as Rice. Take from that what you want. At this point i'd rather see Kearse getting more opportunities...

Really?....Take a look at stats. Who has the LEAST targets of those you mentioned, (except Kearse) and WHO has the most touchdowns.?

http://www.seahawks.com/team/statistics.html

all three of them have been making plays in every game, rice has not minus the jags game. He gets back to his old self i'm all for him being out there, until then i want the recievers out there that has been making plays.. put stats to that. either way you cut it, he's not getting the job done up to this point.

What difference does separation mean when the QB is on the move. The route is DONE at that point.

The problem is OFFENSIVE LINE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3 backups, 1 is a rookie 7th rounder, one is a utility player not great at anything being asked to man the hardest position on the line. And center?....Maybe a tie for most important position.

Slow - clap. Some of us get it. Once RW is in a full tilt scramble, the timing for most any route is gone and he's lost half of the field. He seldom has time to make a quick move and set his feet in time.

This...how do you expect him to spread the ball around when hes running for his life? He's flushed out of the pocket almost immediately
Both Rice and Baldwin have been targeted exactly 24 times.
Baldwin has 17 recs. Rice 10. Baldwin has 296 yds, Rice 146. Baldwin has 41 YAC, Rice has 15. Baldwin has 7 recs of 20+ yds, Rice has 3.

Did I mention Rice and Baldwin have both been targeted exactly 24 times?

We do not need to be playing our best ball in September and October. All we need in those months is to get a lot of Ws which we are doing. Now we need to be playing our best ball in December and January. The last two seasons, Pete's team have drastically got better as the season progresses. Let's see how this plays out. Lets focus on this season before we worry about the up coming off season

if the knee is the main problem with him, hopefully rice gets it sorted out.

last year he made a lot of tough, clutch catches. this year he's practically disappeared.

These guys are "deaf" they have their own world that a player should be having an awesome game every game. Sometimes I truly wonder if they remember the players are I fearfully say it human.

Without bothering to actually read this thread (I didn't), I love Rice. He's made huge plays for us and I personally think he's a great receiver, and I don't understand the hate. He has been overthrown quite a bit lately, and if not for that, I don't think this thread would even exist. That is all.

Targeted twice yesterday, and this was one of them that set us up at the 3 yard line.

Perceived value: Do you need 90 catches and 1200 yards in a season, win or lose, to justify a particular salary? Or a guy that somehow keeps making clutch game changing/winning catches?

How much is a single win worth in the NFL today? How much is two or three wins worth?

He is capable of making great plays like this one.Im not going to pretend like I know why he doesnt play a more important role in the offense but whether its his fault or the coaches fault, he disappears during stretches of the game.If he doesnt become more involved and produce like a true NO 1 WR, regardless of whose fault, then its a waste of 10 mil.

His contract was signed 2 years ago. What difference does it make for THIS Year that he is making that money? Zero, that is how much. Plus he was targeted only twice yesterday for a total of 12 for the year. That is not dissapearing, that is not having the ball thrown to you.

Nice picture of that great catch!

Do you have a picture of the stupid fumble?

That was probably even dumber than the Maragos fumble. You're not at the goal line. Why are you extending the ball in the middle of traffic? He should know better.
