Have a heartbeat. He's QB1 for this season and probably next. Injury bug and Milroe's development being the 2 wild cards.

I think if he has a similar year to last year, then its a no brainer. Part of me thinks he could conceivably be The Guy for the next 10 years. Another part of me sees a similar Alex Smith/Mahomes kind of thing. Maybe that ones more of a hope. I can also see a scenario where both Darnold and Milroe show up big, create somewhat of a QB controversy and one of them gets traded for a huge bounty. One things for certain. I don't have a damn clue how the QB room will shake out over the next 1 to 2 to 3 years. For all we know, Drew Lock might end up the best of the bunch.

Based on this poll thread, I think if Darnold plays close to last year, provides clear leadership and shows why he was originally a high 1st round pick, then its probably his job going forward. The Seahawks are in a great position with the QB room. Excited to see it in play.

Interesting that there are less votes for winning the Conference than winning the Division. Ya'll do know that if the Seahawks win the conference they are in the Super Bowl?! If Darnold plays all the games and gets them to the Super Bowl, then its a no brainer going forward.

I am the lone vote of Milroe takes over in 2027. I think regardless what Darnold does, if Milroe shows any improvement by 2027 then he takes over. Milroe will be 24 and Darnold 30 at that point. Chances are Milroe may not work out but I'd still think we would be looking for the next QB unless Darnold wins the SB.

You're not alone anymore. If by 2027, Milroe has proven to the coaches that his mechanics are fixed, then he's the starter, regardless of how Darnold performs.

I agree with this. It's arguably out of Darnold's hands a bit. If Milroe develops over the next 1-2 years, Darnold is going to get JJ McCarthy'd again.

I voted “win the division” because that seems the most likely way for Darnold to protect his job going forward.

However, I firmly believe that neither of these QBs are the QBOTF. And that’s not meant as being overly negative or a bad thing, but neither guy strikes me as a franchise QB.

Let’s be honest here. Before last season, where Darnold was blessed with arguably the greatest receiving room in the league, he was booty. I find it highly unlikely that he’s going to come in here and play very well surrounded by a bunch of question marks. I just don’t see him thriving here, and wouldn’t be surprised if we’re calling for his benching once we get to the bye week.

Milroe is a huge question mark as well and will need a lot of grooming. I’m not mad at the team taking a swing on him in the third round, but I just can’t imagine the team is going to be super patient with him, especially if Darnold blows. Coach Big Mac’s job security may be called into play once we’re 2-6, the defense can’t stop a nose bleed and Darnold reverts back to his old ways.

I predict their QBOTF will be in next year’s draft class, where Schneider will finally have to grow a pair and take a QB in the 1st with his job on the line as well.

Don’t mean to derail the thread, but that’s where my mind is at. Hope I’m wrong.

You're not derailing the thread. You're just stating your viewpoint on things.

It's all good, man. :)

He just needs to stay healthy. Milroe has explosive talent and some intangibles, but still needs a year or two of grooming by good coaches. Let’s not ruin him by rushing him.

Darnold is 100% safe this year (unless disastrous which is unlikely). Probably next year too, but things could and should get interesting after that.

As with most QBs, it's going to be contingent on whether Kubiak designs/calls an offense that plays to Milroe's strengths/comfort. If Kubiak makes him play like Purdy, he probably won't be successful. If he gets to play like Jalen Hurts, he has a much better chance of success.

I voted win a playoff game or two cause that’s the next step for the hawks. Win the division? Enh… we’ve done that at 7-9. Win the conference? Sam did that pretty much and still went one-n-done. So for me let’s make it to the dance and at least last a few songs

You can take it a few ways I guess. I took win the conference as in being the NFC representative in the Super Bowl.
