Watching him on the sidelines the last few games, does anyone else notice that he just doesn't look like he's enjoying the game? It's pretty obvious. There's just a different vibe and body language with Pete.

Probably. But I just see a different look overall. Maybe I'm just doing the wishful thinking thing that he retires and/or they move on from him.
This team needs some NEW.

Pete is a man clearly out of answers. How he can honestly think, "I think we're just a new defensive coordinator away from being a contender" is beyond delusional. The entire program is stale and undisciplined AF. The OC is garbage too. The oline is always an issue. We cant even run the damn ball with 2 high picks at RB. Pete just needs to move the hell on already.

Has he indicated that he thinks we're a DC away? I must be missing some context here.

I voted no but the body language did look like it could be.
Agreed. I would also add Pete's response to Bob Concotta that looked and sounded eerily similar to all of Pete's concealed truth answers in the past.
Bob: "Pete, do you expect to be back next year?"
Pete: "I do, I do. At this point, I do."

Bob Condotta was the person to ask Carroll a “hard” question….and it was wasn’t a difficult question….

I would have been like, “the Seahawks have years of quick exits out of playoffs, when they went to playoffs, and now there are times Seattle needs help from other teams to make playoffs—what have you done to improve that and why hasn’t it not worked?”

And then he’ll say due to injuries or some bullshit!

But what's the point?

What's the point of the media being an adversarial presence to the coaching staff, in a post-game presser where we're unlikely to get into any sort of detail anyway?

Would be an inappropriate question on a few levels. The media isn't there to bully the staff because fans are angry.

We could also end up 1st in the division, and who knows whether we'll be a title contender. It seems premature to be writing them off in January. We'll see what happens.
This is the kind of magical thinking that's had us as a fringe contender with little to no hope of being a title contender for nine years or so. You know what they say the definition of insanity is?

That specific definition of insanity trope (misattributed to Einstein) is highly, highly incompatible with the game of football.

In this sport, you CAN do the same things and get different results. Most teams ARE doing the same things with different results yearly. Not everything remains the same yearly with Seattle.

I get wanting a new staff and whatnot, but we act as if everything has been held in a static state of suspended time with Seattle. It just isn't that way.

Why is it considered inappropriate?

This is exactly the questions a Philly or New York media asks a team that isn’t successful.

What’s the purpose? You can write a better story that actually has more truths and actual perspective from a coach if you ask specific questions.

It’s not bullying a team—it’s gathering perspective and at least the coach will tell you what went wrong. I’m so tired of giving a free pass to a coach in which his typical answers do not match the product of the field.

Tyler Lockett said a few seasons ago, Seattle, prepares based on what they see on film, and when they get to the actual game, they play against things not on film.

Why is that? Why are they unprepared?

And why does Carroll knowing this, say things like, “We had a great week of practice” only to see the ultimate product on the field, does not look great?

Why can’t you ultimately ask because you’re sick of seeing things aren’t what you were told by the coach before the game?

Everything is all all roses with the coach pre game presser and then it doesn’t match at all what the product on the field is during the game and that continues on and on and on for multiple seasons??

Why can’t you ask questions you want answered instead of being led astray every time and continue to see mediocrity from a team that supposedly is talented on paper but does not play to their “abilities” as even the coaches state the players are talented players but the sum of its parts does not equate to a great product on the field??

The question should be why wouldn’t you not want to ask these questions?? Not why did you ask these questions?? Cause the coaches feelings would be hurt???

You gotta be kidding me….

We might as well get used to the fact that PC ain't going anywhere . The only way he goes away , is if the Hawks come in dead last in the division next year ; and maybe not even then . Coming in 3rd this year seems to be acceptable to PC , the organization , and to many fans . A fan that actually accepts and enjoy a mediocre team ; is probably a border line loser in life as well .
They are the biggest losers, that project their loserdom onto the team. Which is why they are completely cool with it, and don't see a problem.

In fact, since we have standards--we're the problem.

I blame Judy. Grow some balls lady.

I'm still not convinced this isn't it.

Pete adding in that "AS OF NOW, I'd like to" is a little fishy. Not sure any decisions are made yet.

Interesting few days to follow.

Yup.

With Pete, its always HOW he says things or how he frames them thats important. Him adding "at this point I do," when asked if he expects to be back is a big 'tell' in my book.

He didnt have to add it. He could have just left his response as it was, but he deliberately tacked that on the end.

That, to me says that there's a convo to be had with JS and Jody about the future. And... that that convo will determine what he does. I think he left himself the room to resign if Jody wants to move on.

If all was 'good' on his seat, he wouldnt have said it.

If i were to guess, i think he knows there will be conditions on him keeping his job (replacing staff, shifting approach in delegation, etc) and he knows that if its something he cant live with, that he will step aside.
