I don't think the Seahawks were serious about QB this year and plan on drafting someone next year. If they do too well it could hurt those chances of getting the guy they need. They don't want to trade for someone like Jimmy G because they want to draft someone and start fresh and he might win a few too many games and screw that up. Playing your backup QB all season improves those odds of a higher pick though.
They’re not going to need to trade for Jimmy G. He’s going to be released.

You think they would roll with Lock at least for the revenge factor in that first game.

Not much of a revenge 'if' Lock throw 3 INTs and make a fool out of himself. Not hoping that Lock will, but couldn't say he won't after last night. I am secretly hoping that Russ has one of his 4 or was it 5 INT nights, like he has done it before.

I look at it like this: Does Geno have any hope of being a future #1 QB, based upon his age, his intangibles, his past and his present skills? The answer is no. Does Drew? The answer is...possibly. Drew has a potential future, Gene does not. Mostly due to age, because Drew has time to grow. I'm shocked that Pete has named Geno for week one. There's nothing to build on. We know Geno won't get us to a deep playoff run this year. So why not go with someone else who won't get us a deep run, but does give us a chance to develop a young QB for at least a great backup? Geno doesn't provide help today or the future. Drew might give us a future. I'll take that scenario but I cannot take a lose lose scenario....unless....Pete is tanking this year for a better shot at getting the college qb he really wants. That's That's only logical situation I can glean from choosing Geno as the starter.

fake news! Let me tell you something Toffee! Guys in New York were so enamored with Geno that they broke his jaw and cost him his starting job! You know why? because he wouldn't pay 600 dollars he owed to a team mate! This guy is not of high character. He also kept telling the police who arrested them that they had small peepees! Do we really want the leader of our team getting a DUI and instead of being apologetic he tells the police their peepees are small? Sad!
You're sounding like a broken record, and it was ONE guy, NOT "guys"...A couple of His OFF-FIELD decisions are IMMATURITY CRAP, the League is CHOCK FULL of guys like that.
Pete included Drew Lock in that Trade in HOPES that he'd provide the Seahawks another OPTION @ Quarterback, Drew just hasn't had the time that Geno has with the Waldron system, hasn't PROVEN that he can take care of the ball, so Pete really has NO CHOICE other than Geno Smith.
It's a bummer for a lot of Geno Haters, but Pete HAS TO go with his best option, and AT THIS JUNCTURE, Drew Lock just is NOT ready to take the job away from Geno Smith.

no it has not yet been resolved. Driving 96 MPH drunk then told the officers they had small peepees! sad behavior!

On anoher note my sources were correct yet again. I told everyone this wasn't a true QB battle and that it was Geno's job from day 1.
It was "GENO'S JOB" till SOMEONE could come along AND TAKE IT AWAY FROM HIM, that is LIKELY what your "Sources" were talking about...It didn't work out for Lock to be that guy.... YET.
THREE INTERCEPTIONS is PROOF that Drew Lock IS NOT READY TO REPLACE Geno Smith....YET.
You can bet your ass that Pete is as much if not MORE disappointed than some of y'all that Drew didn't progress as fast as he'd hoped he would, hell, I was pulling for the guy to PROVE that he was good enough...HE'S JUST NOT THERE...YET.

I don’t think PC is looking to set the next HC up. PC is getting quite old and knows the end of his HC career is near.
