Carson has been phenomenal whenever he has received the opportunity. He’s been a Top 5 player at his position. It’s sad that you can’t see what everyone else has.

Penny will get there (or close to it) but he’s not there yet.

Carson is good, Penny is great.

Regarding Carson.... would love to see Carson with 5-10 carries a game. He can’t handle and hold up to more than that. He is injury prone and can’t be counted on. Missing 14 out of 24 games due to injury is a problem. I think it’s sad people can’t see that. Poor guy is gonna continue to get broken. I’m not saying anything that isn’t true. To ignore his injury history pro and NFL and to ignore his lack of ever having a heavy workload and hoping that changes even though it continues to pop up is wishful thinking at best.

I have continued to say this all year and been consistent on Penny all year. Where are we at half way through the season? Penny is leading the tream in YPC and Carson continues to miss games. After awhile people need to recognize it’s a pattern.

? Carson, while not really staying healthy has been damn good. Penny is gonna' be good I think, but he's already great? Hope so, but WAY too early to say he's great. Just like it has been WAY too early to say he's a bust.

No trades please! We still have an unreliable 2nd year back and a rookie that has yet to prove his value.

Yep, and 2-3 other backs that haven't proven they can stay healthy.............which IS why we drafted Penny in the first place, between Prosise, Carson, McKissic and Davis no one stepped up to prove to Pete that they could be a dependable healthy back in his offense.

I think the Seahawks RB's are in pretty good shape. Current Seahawk RB stats:

Chris Carson: 111/497/4.48-YPC/long of 24, 2-TD's: Good numbers but the # of games missed is of concern..

Mike Davis: 78/346/4.44-YPC/long of 37, 3-TD's: Good numbers for a capable backup, worth having if injury bug hits.

Rashaad Penny: 54/254/4.70-YPC/long of 38, 1-TD: After a SLOW start due to missing majority of preseason with injury.
Continuing to improve day to day and game to game is very possible and is expected from a 1-st round RB pick. By the end of the season, many will come to the conclusion that Penny is indeed a beast RB in the making and will be happy to have him as a Seahawk IMO- but then, I was probably one of the few in these parts that really wanted the Seahawks to draft Penny on draft day and I was actually pretty surprised when they did. The future will divulge the value of that pick.

Chris Carson got the bulk of the carries tonight and he bounced back well from his first play flub. Chris Carson was a 7th round pick but had it not been for health concerns, he would have been drafted much higher. The concerns about Carson's health are valid. He wasn't healthy in college and those concerns haven't eased as a pro. He has problems playing a full season.

It's not unusual BTW in NFL history for a RB or anybody to better in the 2nd year. Rashaad got hurt early, had a new system to learn and had some weight gain in the off season (which was never a problem for him and San Diego State and actually surprises me).

He also wasn't giving his best effort, according to the coaches.

But to hear Carroll describe it, Penny wasn't applying himself the way he needed to. Carroll was asked what he meant with several postgame comments about how Seattle's coaches had been sternly pushing Penny and "challenging him to get right."

Thought it was interesting to hear Schotty say that sometimes he has to say to Penny "are you paying attention" in his interview this week.

Carson is fantastic in short yardage situations. May be one of the best I've seen at that. Penny has more big play potential. Davis had a fantastic block tonight on an edge blitzer. They all are playing well and they seem to have figured out how to best use each one.

After the Packersgame its very clear that Carson is the better back at this stage. Man its been fun watching him! I’ve missed this so much since Lynch has been gone.

I still cant figure out Penny though. He does not look bad but he does not really pass the eye-test either, and doesn’t seem to have burst. But since Carson is so great, I’m willing to wait and see before passing any judgement.

All 3 are great fit. Carson is the “bell cow” ultimately. Penny is the versatile back with exceptional quickness and burst all while actually being a bigger back than would think with having those measurables. And then add Davis, always liked Davis, loved signing. Hard runner, blocker and can show hands in pass game. All around guy that can step in for a stint or if need to fill in for an injury and not have much drop off/change to game plan. Each have their own niche that makes a defense question alignment all while having same mentality and ultimately bolstering our run game.

A real unsung hero-steady as could be, does a lot of little things with his excellent blocking, good receiving and runs through the middle looking to hit someome hard. Great to see Pete give him the rock to finish it.

Indeed. 3rd and 3 or less I'd give it to Carson every time. That 3rd and 1 run he had tonight was something to be seen where he made that quick cut and then broke a tackle or 2 for a great gain. He greatly redeemed himself from that rare fumble and was back in form.

Penny is developing into a real outside running specialist that when he gets going and breaks through a lane can do some exciting things. He has the makings of a quality finesse runner and is continuing to improve. He's not showing to be an inside runner though despite his size and still goes down easily on contact. He appears to lack the strength and/or technique to break tackles the way Carson and Davis can.

I still hope they'll look to design some creative plays with both Carson and Penny in there.

Well compared to Carson. Maybe its just that the patience Penny has, which is good and will bring big gains, that he overdoes a little. He sometimes waits and lingers when it would seem to be better to explode already and get something out of the play.

Penny has a REALLY nice burst both at and past the line and has a nice jump cut that covers a lot more ground than it looks like. Where it LOOKS as though Penny doesn't have any burst is when he turns his shoulders and is running laterally. Seems like the game is still fast for him and when he turns his shoulders he's trying to find a crease and it slows him down mentally. When the game slows down, you'll see him make better, faster decisions. Until then, you'll sort of see a tale of two backs in the same player.

Davis redeemed himself a bit over the last two games. He had been dancing a bit too much and not taking the yards that were there. Still a good overall #2 back even if he's destined to be supplanted by Penny.

Carson is still the thoroughbred, however. The fumble was bad, but it didn't cost the win. Creating your own yards is the mark of the most successful of running backs throughout the history of the game and Carson does that consistently. He'll get 2 or 3 when absolutely nothing is there and sometimes more and if you give him a crease then 1 or more DBs and LBs are going to feel it.

Our running game is a luxury right now.
