It's a worse team for sure. Doubt this line up is the same by the end of May.
That's what I've been dying for the last couple weeks - a lineup shakeup. Most everyone's order just seems wonky right now, and I think Ms would have won a few more games with certain players appearing elsewhere.

Also, if I were the manager, I'd be tempted to call Cole Young up for a week or two and have him play 2B to see how ready he is (edit: I realize he normally plays SS). With Horribly-Wong sent down for the duration. Might not be, but what do they have to lose?

Our bottom 3 of our lineup have been BAD. Like, historically bad. We knew going into the season how bad our DH situation was, but Kolten Wong is not capable of playing major league baseball.

Julio is forcing it right now. Swinging at some bad pitches. I expect him to calm down and figure it out.
Eugenio is a force. He's doing what Julio isn't, swinging at good pitches, making good contact. He's a highlight.
Ty France continues to be legitimate.
JK... not counting my chickens, but did he finally figure it out?
Teoscar has made some good contact and he looks significantly better than the first 10 games.
Cal is cal.

Our starting pitching is good enough to compete.

Serious regressions in the bullpen so far but if we can do anything about the bottom of the lineup, including their on-field shittiness, this team will be competitive.

Don't lump JP in with the disaster that the 7 and 8 spots have been. That just isn't accurate or fair at all. He's been in the 9 spot in nearly every game (I think every game except last night) and has the 4th highest BA on the team (.250, better than Julio, Teo, and Cal), but more importantly has the 2nd highest OBP on the team at .400. Only Ty has a higher OBP. JP has actually been very good at working his way on base ahead of the top of the order this season.

I'll accept that JP is a mid-low tier SS and compared to 7/8 in our lineup hes been acceptable. I measure him more against what was available in FA, which was littered with middle infielders.

That's a completely different discussion though. As a 9 hole hitter whose job it is, is to get on base ahead of the top of the order, he's been very good at doing that. There isn't a team in the league that wouldn't be incredibly happy to be getting a .400 OBP out of the 9 spot.

The bottom of the order needs to get better, and I expect them to address the DH spot sometime in the next month or so. That's an easy fix.

The team has flaws, but they are the the easiest areas to fix. Bullpen, DH and possibly a back end starting pitcher.

But by going cheap in the off season we are falling behind in the standings. But that's what the M's do. They go cheap, watch it fail, and then trade prospects for established guys.

So far we get good Marco today, channeling his inner Jaime Moyer.

Liking what I'm seeing from the Caballero kid. Might be tough choices coming when Dylan gets back.

Helluva swing on the Julio dinger. He's been an a bit of a mini slump so far.

So the Brewers & Mariners have the exact same bases loaded with no out scenario..... One team scores 5 runs, the other barely gets 1 & that team loses. I wonder who?

I'm shocked that All Time Great LaStella popped out in the 9th with the game on the line..... Another one of DiBozo's dumpster dive specials....

Don't know what I hate more. The team losing or dumb prop home run celebrations. Absolute cringe, especially when getting swept.

The other nite when JRod hit that worthless solo HR, Angie & whoever was with her were going absolutely crazy with a celebration. They were losing by like 3 runs & they lost. The whole M's broadcast now is sickening..... Constant gushing over JRod, gushing over meaningless solo HR's & other silliness & the constant cutaways to the reports on the food or bobbleheads, etc.... I had to watch the Milwaukee feed, they actually talked about baseball & they got to celebrate 3 WINS.

Just a little too much softness in our batting order. Keeps showing up. Tonight again.
