I dunno, I'm not convinced. The easiest schedule in the league and only signature wins against the Broncos, Redskins, Giants, and Saints. The last two I'm not sure how signature they are. They lost to the Bucs, Panthers and Saints. They ay be better than the Redskins but I question that they're "a lot better".

I think the Falcons are better, but we match up better with them (as has been said).

I hope that Clemons will be fine (I haven't heard an update on him, yet.)

Also, I am concerned about going on the road and playing an early game. If I did the math right, it's a 10:00am start out here.

Even today, it seemed like we slept walk through the 1st quarter. It seems like we do that a lot on the road. If the Skins could have wrung out one more TD when they were in sync, it would have made it very difficult for us.

I see double moves on Brandon Browner in the future.

They have to get off the line of scrimmage first. Browner showed Garcon what he felt about his double moves later in this game. Browner should just beat some ass right from the first snap, and he'll probably get penalties. If he pisses off a receiver so they act stupid it's probably worth it.

Not talking s**t but not worried. Like what was said before, they have good WRS but our corners are better

Is Matty ice gonna tweak his knee after he easily goes up 14-0?

You never know.

- I think with how well Sherman is playing, he will get a lot one on one vs. Roddy White. Browner is much more comfortable as the right corner, and Sherman left. Julio will see Browner most of the day, but Thomas first help read will be to that side. It cannot be overstated how dominant our defense was today after the first quarter. As Carroll explained after the game, he was worried about them playing slow early. That had spent so much time working on defending RG3's read option, that he felt we would play too cautiously, and we did. That will not be an issue with Ryan.

For sure.

That said, I feel better about this matchup than the matchup against th Skins. I wasn't nearly as confident as most on these boards.

It's our Defense that gives you the confidence. ;)

The thing about the Falcons is they've played a pretty mediocre schedule.

That said, there's some comparisons to make here.

The best secondary they faced all year was Arizona, and Matt Ryan threw 5 picks.

Then they played Carolina twice (who are similar on offense to the Seahawks), and Carolina scored 28 and 30pts respectively, going 1-1 vs them.

The Seahawks match-up very well with the Falcons.

Falcons have been chokers in the playoffs lately and still have yet to get that monkey off their backs. Also, the Falcons strike me as a soft offense that won't take being punched in the mouth well.

These aren't the same Falcons as before. I guess you could say the same about the Hawks since they finally learned how to win a road playoff game, but they won't beat the Falcons in the GA Dome. I don't even remember the last time the Hawks beat the Falcons at all. Even at Century Link.

In 2004 and 2005. Which is about the same time frame it's been since your team won a playoff game.

OK really how do you guys think the Falcons are good? I know, I will just sound like some mindless follower.... But I really respect Football Outsiders rankings.

This is the final regular season rankings.

Atlanta is #10, Washington is #9. Their rankings are fairly accurate.

Not sure how you get the opinion that Atlanta is miles better.
I agree. In fact, the Atlanta defense, while ranked 12th, is rated at -2.9%. That's just a hair above middling. While much better than the Skins defense, it's not nearly as impressive as, say, San Frans or Chicago's. On offense they also rank 12th, compared to Washington, which ranked 6th. Atlanta's 6.1% doesn't compare to Green Bay or New England, both of whom we were able to keep in check.

White is no more dangerous than Garcon. Garcon doesn't miss most of the season, his stats oushine Whites.

Turner is rated as a below replacement level running back, meaning the Falcons have to running game. Their strength plays into our strength. Meanwhile, their rushing defense is about as good as the Skins (which was highly overrated everywhere but on FO), meaning it isn't very good and their weakness plays into our strength.

I think we should handle them quite easily. The only concern I have is the loss of Clemons is going to mean our pass rush suffers and since our pass rush wasn't good enough to begin with, that could turn out to be problematical.

You can only beat the teams on the schedule. For what it's worth, I watched most of their loss to Carolina and Newton just had an insane performance. Their other defeat was in New Orleans and Brees had a major day. Then there was the throw away week 17 loss to Tampa Bay.

Apart from that they won every single other game. They have a franchise quarterback, two stunning receivers, a hall of fame tight end and a solid, balanced defense. They play a brand of football which allows them to dominate a lot of games.

Now... I'm not saying they're flawless or we can't/won't win. Ryan had a five-pick game earlier this year (forget the game, maybe Arizona?) where he just looked poor. And if he can rattle him, it might happen again. But we're not exactly pressing many QB's this year and now we've lost our best pass rusher in Clemons to an ACL injury. We can run on their defense, but I suspect we'll have to keep up because they'll score points.

They are much richer in talent with more experience across the board than Washington. In all honesty, the only thing holding people back making them a likely SB finalist is the fact they've bottled it the last two years in the playoffs. Well, eventually that run will end. They're too good a team for it not to.

That may be the case and if we lose it won't be a surprise but we have a great defense and our offense the second half of the year as good as anyone's because of Wilson and Lynch so i like our chances . These games are usually decided by the most physical team. I don't know if Atlanta is that kind of team or not we'll find out sunday.

The one thing that concerns me about the Falcons is theyre at home and can put quick points on you. But having said that, we are a lot better than we were a few months ago and we have confidence and momentum. The Falcons played great this season and were rewarded with a bye. They could be rusty.

Yeah, good thing we learned how to win a a road playoff game. When will you finally learn how to win A playoff game? What a joke.

Falcons like taking shots deep down field. I like our chances on those balls.

Like I said on another thread, the Falcons have two #1 recievers and a hall of fame TE. . . if the Seahawks defense is all it's cracked up to be they're going to have to prove it for us next sunday.
