Just heard 3 year 105M with either 52M guaranteed or 52M in the 1st year.

I haven't heard the $52 million part, but it would be easy enough to believe. Assume that they give him a $51 million signing bonus and a $1 million contract for the upcoming season. He'd get $52 million and it would be guaranteed. We'd have a cap hit of $18 million. This would leave $53 million for the final two years of the deal. Perhaps something like $20 million and $33 million. Obviously there are still too many variables to know anything for sure until all the numbers come out

It's about what I expected. It's not an overpay, but it's at least a 2 year commitment. I would have preferred a transition tag and draft a QB with it's top 5 pick to start in 2023. Not sure that happens now with a 3 year contract signed. We'll see.

Hope they still draft a QB high and prep him to start in the near future…..

They’ll never do that because they’ll lose the advantage of getting him on a cheap deal. The only way they do this is if they sign him long term in year 4. Even then this strategy rarely works, it’s been a disaster for the Packers (Love looks totally out of whack when he’s played).

We thought that about Geno too. He has the tools.

I'd like to see what he can do after a year in Waldron's system just like Geno.

It's highly unlikely Lock would get a shot to be seen now that Geno has been paid. If they sign him it would be strictly as a backup just like Geno behind Russ.

I love this move! I'm so ready for the season to start! But I suppose there's a lot to do before then. Go Hawks!

Yeah, he'd be the backup but I think PC could spin that & make him feel wanted.

So you don't think we can improve our defense now that we can use all our higher draft picks on defense?
We will probably have to cut a few defensive players just to stay under the cap. Woods, Mone, Harris, Jefferson all likely candidates. Brooks is likely out awhile.

So before the draft starts the defense is already worse than last year. Even if we killed the draft this year on defense, rookies don't generally make a huge impact year 1.

This is all why I was against signing Geno. He's fine as a QB, but the roster isn't set up for a playoff push. Also, of we don't take a QB we are likely picking in the 15-25 range for the next few drafts, and not likely to have access to a top QB again.
