GB NFCCG doesn't have the teeth that the 49er's NFCCG had

I mean, GB beat the Cowgirls in THEIR OWN house by less than a TD.
While the 9'ers went out on the road last year and beat the Cheese Packers in THIER house, then went and pounded the Car-Kitties in THEIR house before coming here and losing a tight close game here.

I'm a little disappointed that the challenge has been lowered.

But we'll make do.

The Packers are still pretty good, seems like a lot of people are forgetting that around here. They don't have the D that SF did, but their offense is light years beyond what Kaep brought to Seattle last season.

Oh, I know it's not like GB isn't a competitor, but the 9'ers (last season) were a lot more aggressive, and heck, I don't remember the line of last seasons NFCCG. were we favored?

We are so much better, RW is so much more experienced.

We were favored by 4 according to PFR.

And while they might have been more aggressive on D, they were (and still are) light years behind the GB offense.

Maybe it's just the divisional rival angle you miss, but not me. I like the idea of our opponent not being quite as familiar with us.

Not that it matters in the grand scheme of things but there is an attitude of "oh we got this, Super Bowl is guaranteed" which I find as an admittedly sad Mathmo who loves analysing probability, just a tad furstrating.

Hence the arrogance claims by Packer fans, but I digress.

In a game of this magnitude, things can snowball quite quickly (Superbowl last year ring any bells). For example, what are the chances that Green Bay get the ball first and drive the field for a score followed by a Seahawks fumble in own territory and Rodgers punches it in for another TD (air not ground...)?

Not likely right? Well OK not likely but certainly plausible given Seahawks always Defer the opening kick-off, I expect Green Bay to have some success running Lacy early and our secondary is due giving up a big play (last one was Benjamin from week 8 I think? Maybe similar to the Lindlay bomb to Floyd which he got wrong...). We have a QB who is ultra protective of the ball but giveaways happen, look at 1st play of last years NCFCG for an example. Someone is going to pull out a stat of Wilson's 7 giveaways or the fact that only one team scored on their opening possession against us this year I imagine, but my point is more of a hypothetical one at any rate.

My point is this is just one potential set of scenarios which although I'm not expecting could happen, is not realistically out of the question. If Green Bay gets in front, the crowd will get nervous and the pressure is all on the Hawks. Suddenly the construct of the game is utterly diffrerent, swagger disappears etc

Don't get me wrong, I expect Hawks to win (mainly because I just don't thing Rodgers can do enough without mobility) but it doesnt take a string of miracles to occur for Green Bay to win. They are a good team and I have no idea what the score will be from a prediction standpoint. X factor is how much that calf limits AR - we will never the answer to that question anyway. If he is shutdown, LOB / Hawk fans will claim it was nothing to do with the injury. the media will put it all on the injury.

If this game is run 100 times on a simulation repeatedly, how many would Green Bay win? I'd estimate 15-25, so for me Sunday is going to be as nervous as last year.

GO HAWKS!

It's the NFC Championship Game. It is amazing that our team is in this spot. All this talk of it not being "dramatic enough" for some folks is a little sad.

Win or lose, this is a pretty amazing thing that we get to witness -- a second consecutive NFCCG appearance. I hope this is not lost on too many people who follow the team. There are 28 fanbases that have to grit their teeth while watching our team perform on Sunday.

No result is a given in this league, especially when you're talking about a Packers team that looked like the league's best about a month ago. Enjoy yourself, don't assume anything, and for PETE's sake, don't take any of this for granted. The opportunity in itself is special.

I just can't belive how Many here don't even give GB a chance . I meen I'm confident we will win but I just can't see this crazy blow out I just can't ! It's the NFCCG the kitchen sink is coming and after all it's football not a basketball game.people banking on Rodgers hurt and can't move . This is BS in its purest form . Guy is playin possum . This will be a close one IMHO .

GB was a Micah Hyde drop from winning that game with half their team (including Matthews) out injured....

On Paper Green Bay has no chance. But things happen in games. That's why they play the game. Injuries happen. Schemes happen. Turnovers happen... Unlikely GB wins but you never know... PS, I smile every time someone on ESPN says GB has NO chance... I'm sure you cringe when you hear that:) Best of luck

That's exactly it.

Who wouldn't still be miserable to this very day if Santa Clara had come up here and taken the NFC Championship in our house?

I feel about the same for the Packers this year as I did about the Panthers in '06. Maybe even less because at least the Panthers had beaten a couple of teams with winning records on the road, including in the playoffs prior to the NFCCG. That was the Cowboys this year, but some home cookin' at Lambeau took care of that threat.

Yeah, I'd still be saltier than the Dead Sea if that had been the case.

These are the good times. Enjoy them, it's so lame to be disappointed in what lies ahead because they "could have been better'." It doesn't get better than this.
