You seem bitter and unbelieving. So you think the Commanders would be in the same position with Howell as their QB?
I dont even understand how you manage to pull Howell into this.
You do know that Bienemy was so bad in Washington that he wasnt even offered a job in the NFL in 24. And thats after being the OC under Reid.
Going back to the Russ days your view of offense seems to hinge entirely and exclusively on qb. When we were good, it was all Russ. When we were bad it was the o line and Pete being too conservative.
Yet with Geno, we have had worse o line play, no run game (Russ had top 10 run games with the exception of 1 year), and until this year, league worst defense. But somehow its all on Geno. There was zero evidence when Schotty was here that HE or his playcalling was the issue, yet that didn't sway you from elevating Russ and criticizing everything around him. Now, GENO is the source of all evil, despite everything around him having been PROVEN to be flawed.
As to Washington, if you know football or even talk to a fan of Washington, as much as they see Daniels as a revelation, they will also tell you that Klingsbury has been a master at crafting a scheme in Washington that is perfectly tailored to his personnel and his rookie superstar. In Washinton, the OC is first and foremost at the top of his craft. Even when he was in AZ, despite failing as a HC, he still solidified his place as one of the top playcallers in the league by virtue of how intelligent his scheme was. And because he is so goodhe is able to get the most out of each position group and for the QB, create a safe plan from which to operate, maximizing Daniel's incredible skill, with a scheme that puts him within a high functioning system.
So as to your question, which has nothing to do with getting at the reality of the complexity of the team sport that football is, no, I dont think Howell would have Washington in the championship game. I also dont think if you swap Grubb for Klingsbury, they are in the championship game... not in a million years. Nor do i think Daniels would have Seattle in the championship game if he were our qb.
Football is infintely more complex a game - from multiple elements on the field needing to work well together, to quality leadership and sound strategy being required to maximize talent - than the oversimplified, intentionally dismissive (and transparently biased) stance you seem always bent on taking.
