Jury is out on him. He definitely has not been the same the last few years. I know a lot of folks on this board have high hopes for the team next year, but the offense is definitely a huge question mark with all the new pieces.

I am quite sure that Willie Schneider scouted and evaluated Kupp thoroughly before John Schneider signed Kupp to a three-year, $45 million deal. It includes $17.5 million in guaranteed money, a $12 million signing bonus, and a base salary of $4.99 million in 2025.

We all read that John Schneider resisted Metcalf's repeated requests for contract extension, same for Geno, until they requested to be traded. John has a plan and we shall enjoy the fruits of his effort this season.

If we cut him next year his cap hit is $8M -- in a year when our dead cap drops from $67M to $181K -- so it's not like we're married to him. Most likely this is a 1-year deal for the $9M he's owed this year. Next year it jumps to $17.5M.

And, if we're splitting hairs, he was not brought in to replace DK as the article suggests. MVS will be playing the deep threat/X receiver, although Horton may gets reps there as well.

It's a 1 year $17.5M deal with cheaper less expensive, non-guaranteed options for the next 2 seasons. The Rams weren't prepared to pay Kupp $15M this year, (a decision I agreed with). Maybe he's a $10M player. Maybe he's worth less than that. It's tough to see the Seahawks getting value for money.

Lots of people were trying to land Kupp. If he met all incentives of the 45 million then he will have earned it. 15 mill is like 22nd? It's like the Tank contract. We had cash to spend. It's like whe wife forgot the coupon for Subway so it cost 30 dollars....

The writer, John Buhler...? Buhler...? Buhler...? Is out to lunch.
The guy writes for FanSided, lives in Atlanta and loves singing karaoke and dominating bar trivia.

Kupp averaged 750 yards/6 TD's over the last 3 years, JSN is our 1100 yd/10 TD guy. Once these guys get going, good luck covering JSN, Kupp, Horton and Arroyo. Especially with a QB that gets the ball out on time. On the rare occasion no one is open, just toss a swing pass to our 275lb FB Mr. Ouzts and let him tenderize those DB's a little.

Yeah I'm pretty sure stopping this new Seahawk offense is going to be harder than singing karaoke or dominating bar trivia.

Well he has missed a few games lately to injury.

Thing is, we don't need him to catch 100 balls or get 1000 yards. If he's in the 50 catch range with 600 yards or so, he'll be a valuable asset. Lightening his work load decreases the probability of injury, too.

You have to discount every contract by a year. A three-year contract is a two-year contract (and maybe less depending on how it's structured). I have to think that he can give solid #2 contribution for two years. They have to spend the money somewhere.

Kupp had more catches and TDs than DK last year, in less games.

DK is washed too. :)
That's right.

DK is washed.

I'll repeat : DK is washed. Is sutz and Sperrydogg going to give me surprised emojis, too? 😉

Kupp is still a great receiver, if he can stay healthy. His stats for last year, translate to 94 catches for 1,005 yards over 17 games.

I'd rather pay Kupp $15 million/year than Davante Adams (who is a year older) $22 million/year. Kupp's never been a burner, so I think his game is more sustainable even as he ages.

Of course, it all depends on his health.
