Now that Geno is gone what are the odds that we take a QB in the first round? Rumor is that John has someone he really likes in the draft. Is that Dart? Do we have a list of all the players they met with? He's the only QB I know they met with for sure. So many questions!!

Dart would be interesting but they probably need to trade up.

I think he's there at 18 but you may be right, dudes' stock is a hockey stick. I'd be only mildly surprised if he went earlier.

I voted yes before I read it’s about the 1st rd. I get the feeling they like Dart or Ewers. Dart would probably have to be a 1st, Ewers less likely, but possible.

I’m going back and forth if they go QB or edge/kenneth Grant at 18

I said no. Because I don't think there will be anyone they want at that spot. But if they do, I won't be crying in my beer about it.

I'll applaud them for trying whether it turns out a bust or not.

I do think they'll take a QB somewhere in this draft though.

Rd 1 Jaxson Dart
Rd 3/4 Jalen Milroe
Day 3 Kurtis Rourke

Just spitballing, but I do think they draft a QB and sign one or two UDFA's.

If the rumours about Darnold are true (I hope they are not) then I doubt we will draft one in rounds 1-5.

Geno was an OK QB but getting on in years so we needed to look for a QB to replace him, given the draft options it would be unlikely we could get someone to perfom in 2025 but we could get someone to develop into a starter in 2026 or 2027.

I worry the front office see Darnold as QBotF. He did well this year with a top ranking WR set and O-line, in previous seasons he was significantly worse than Geno. The 49er found we wasn't as good as Mr Irrelevent. Our O-line has been terrible for years, last year our WR set was good (probably not as good as the Vikings) but if DK goes JSN will be our only star WR left. We might improve a bit in the off season but I can't see us giving our QB the targets and protection Darnold had last year.

If Sam Darnold is bought we might get a QB in round 6 or 7 to compete for back-up but Darnold wil be seen as the starter for years to come so we don't need to look for an another QB that would compete for starter in the next few years.

If we sign Darnold, I'll want to see the full details of the contract. My guess is his price is dropping to a more reasonable level. Who knows? We might sign him for considerably less than Geno, free up more CAP space, have an "out" on the contract after a year or two, and then draft a potential QBOTF in the third, second, even the first round to develop, or even compete for the starting job with him.

I agree trading Geno sent draft a QB on auto pilot. When they do it I do not know but I don't think waiting very long will produce positive dividends. So...I'm hoping they move up from 18 to get a guy that gives us a chance. We have quite a high number of picks to work with, just not a lot of high number picks.

Even with Darnold in the stable, I don't see how drafting a qb in the first couple rounds would be a bad thing. It would increase competition and push Darnold to be at the top of his game, and give us a backup plan should he regress. Win win.

I can definitely see us drafting a QB at either #50, 52, 82 or 92.

In fact, I'd be a bit surprised if we don't.

I believe that John has a difference maker on defense in mind for #18.

Just starting to delve into the QB's and even though this is considered a weak QB class, there are some interesting options after the top 2. My hope is Sanders falls and a team gives us something for #18. Having two 2nds & 3rds should really help if they identify a QB they really like.
I'm in the minority, but Milroe in the 3rd wouldn't hurt my feelings.

I don’t see us drafting a QB. I think the FO looks at Darnold as a solid addition and Howell as a suitable backup.

If Darnold poops the bed, I can see them looking hard at next years crop. I’ll go out on a limb here and say that we’ll all be appreciative of what Geno could do after witnessing Darnold running for his life this entire next season.

I just don’t see him excelling in what our current state looks like (O-line obviously). Eeyorish for sure…just my opinion.

Personally, I think you have to start taking shots in the draft at some point. Not knocking Geno or Darnold…

Perhaps I’d just love to see a ‘homegrown’ kind of guy.

Crazy to realize Russ was the only time they took a serious shot at a qb in the draft over all these years. That doesn't seem like a great way to plan for the future.

round 2 pick#50 texaS QB Quinn Ewers
I think Ewers makes a lot of sense given our QB situation. He can be potentially be given a year or two to develop if Darnold doesn't work out. We can get him at a relatively low buy in. Every time I've watched Ewers I've been impressed by his moxie. I definitely think he would've benefited from going to school from another year, which makes him a logical candidate as a developmental prospect.
