I think the initial roster reflects what John Schneider indicated they would do. Place an emphasis on areas of position shortages. Seems to me that is reflected, for example, in the number of big offensive linemen and big physical receivers on the initial roster.

The positions where they may be a man short are where there is a good size population to chose from.

I like the fact they put a great emphasis on offensive line. My only concern as a fan
Is the interior linebacker positions. If the (2)FA guys JS signed are healthy and effective, Seattle should be fine. A couple of injuries and who knows?

It appears unfortunately the Panthers have claimed OLB/DE -Jamie Sheriff and also ILB- Jon Rhattigan off waivers and that the Seahawks have apparently claimed a familiar face DE/OLB- Tyreke Smith.

I don't plan on updating this until the team announces this acquisition and whether the player is a PS candidate. He was drafted by the team in the 5th rd. in 2022. got hurt went on IR for his first year then released in year two and added to the PS where he was claimed from the PS by AZ. Seems as if he's likely a PS squad addition.

Thank you my friend, I have already posted the Tyreke Smith waiver claim which the team hasn't yet confirmed but will be pending passing physical.

Seems I was right about the 17th spot with OT- Pircher being there as an IPP player.

One open spot remaining.

Updating.

NOTE:

There now seems to be some question whether the Hawks in fact did claim DE/OLB- Tyreke Smith.

There are now conflicting reports on this claim.

At present I will leave the expected acquisition alone but will revise if the early reporting was erroneous.

Thanks Jville for sourcing that out, as ever your assistance here is greatly appreciated!!!

The situation around the waiver claim seemed peculiar. Initially the waiver reports had indicated the team had successfully claimed Smith but then later reports indicated the team hadn't claimed anyone. Not sure I understood, but a generally reliable source indicated he'd been claimed and then other contrary reports started drifting in. Even Condoota who is rarely fooled is somewhat confused by the situation. He's certainly a trustworthy source.

This truly points out how easy it is to get fooled at times by media reporting that is perhaps quick but off the mark for whatever reason. I'm sure there will be some clarification over the next little while. Perhaps with his wonky knee the claim was meant to be conditional upon him passing a physical? Who knows?

I liked the Smith draft pick by the team when it was made. Smith is potentially a solid edge player. Sadly his career has begun with a significant injury and that combined with a n injury history in college put questions around him as far as availability. It'd be nice if things work out for him and especially the team.

The presently open PS spot seems likely to be reserved for a QB, to take the pressure of the two roster members. But who? JS stays constantly busy trying to find incremental improvements.
