Many questions on how serious some of our injuries are. Depending on what they do with IR will change the landscape significantly. If Fant and Brown are both closer to healthy than not, I think Mabry or Russell could end up on the PS and they add another OL (currently have 10). I haven't heard much about Cameron Young's injury status...so assuming he will go on IR. If not, probably subract an ILB.

Notables:
  • Shenault & Young take 5/6 WR and coverage duties. Dee Williams to PS.
  • Not sure what to make of the OL. Assuming Lucas is closer to playing that not. Curtis available to back T & G positions (lets hope it doesn't come to that). Haynes/Bradford to start.
  • Sherrif has played himself onto the roster
  • I have them keeping both Rhattigan and Barrett on the final...not highly confident there.
  • Boykin takes the 5th CB spot.
  • Okada over Bryant. I actually think Bryant may makes the team and Okada to PS...but Okada outplayed Bryant all preseason. I'd hate to see him go to another team if cut.
  • Myers performance last night has my anxiety down. So no need to eject him for a cut kicker from another team.

IR, Cuts & PS. I assume they will add several to the PS from other teams.

****UPDATED***** ESPN was missing ~10 players.

Nice job Levee!

Nice format too!

Don't agree with all your cuts but that's just my opinion and we each have our own about some players.

Totally good with that. Agreement is ok...but constructive conflict is the intent. The only thing I'm 100% confident on is my take will not be what JS/MM ultimately do.

Kudos. I’ve done a few of these in the past and it takes more work than people think, so good job.

I definitely disagree on a few spots, but hey, either of us is Mike McDonald so we are free to speculate. I like Derek Young, but I think he gets cut. He was solid but didn’t really pop. One of the “Dee” dudes probably make it. Eskridge or Williams. I lean towards Williams. I wouldn’t be surprised to see both DJ James and Prichard make the cut with with a look toward the future. Bryant should make it over Okada.

For the love of football, straight out cut PJ Walker. Seems like a good dude, but he is not a good qb.

I liked Patrick O’Connell last preseason and again this preseason. Hope he stays in some capacity

Also love the easy read format and would only note IMO
that although Marquise Blair is the thumper, Coby Bryant plays with game intelligence.

Coby will make the squad imo. You only have 5 Corners and Coby can play both Safety and Corner.

Here's my thinking on safeties:
  • If the coaches think his tackling has improved enough, Bryant makes the team. His Int and the few close ones had nothing to do with great coverage or dynamic ability. The ball skipped to him off WR hands. Kudos that he was in the area, but nothing to hang your hat on.
  • Okada is a tackling machine and was always in position. He had a play last night playing deep safety...they passed to the flat and Okada closed the ~20 yd gap to make it no gain/min pickup. That is a wrinkle in the D I am excited to see and Okada fits the role needed to make those plays.
  • I had high hopes for Blair when we drafted him...but I have never seen the skill level beyond being a thumper. Kam was a thumper, but was a master at SS. Blair will never be that. He is good for PS depth, but not anything special.
Many are likely correct that Bryant makes the team...but i think Okada is the better Safety. If Bryant is cut, no way he makes it to the PS.

Thanks for starting the thread with a skeleton to build on.

AJBarner is a Michigan kid with a pretty high draft pick committed. Pete would never cut that player. He didn't really show up in pre-season but he was also not played as much. Maybe they were hiding him. Maybe they're done with him. TE will be interesting position and show a lot about how MMac values certain traits.

Coby Bryant didn't make a decision easy, but I'll predict if he's cut, we'll regret it. He had one INT 2 weeks ago and I noticed 2 other times he forced fumbles on tackles (both times the fumble went out of bounds so no turnover). He blew at least 1 coverage, but that's hard to 100% control when there are so many different players substituting in/out. If he's not on the 53, I hope JS can get some trade value back. He's a versatile CB/S with lots of starting exp. MarquiseBlair was a FA signing so there would be some expectation he'd make it to the practice squad...if it's a choice between those 2.

Neamiah Pritchett?

I could also forsee a few manipulations with IR designations to keep a few extra players while JS is trying to force trades instead of straight up cuts. He's playing Major League ball this year taking advantage of some Little League GMs. Could be both TE and CB/S positions.

With all the nickle and dime defenses in today's game, ten defensive backs is likely the roster minimum to start the campaign.

And with all the talent at WR and RB, starting out with three tight ends on the regular roster seems adequate.

I like the quickness and range of C/OT Jalen Sundell. He looked particularly good in run blocking for RB George Holani's three consecutive A-gap runs culminating in a touchdown. Sundell looks like a promising practice squad addition.

Imo, Boykin and Sheriff are cut and then placed on the PS after passing waivers.

And AJ Barner makes the team over Tyler Mabry. Mabry to the PS.

Lastly, one of either Coby Bryant or DJ James makes the team... maybe both.
