Please advise why, as the Saints released this player.

By rule both OLB/DE- Bruce Irvin and CB- Xavier Crawford revert to the PS.

With there being 51 players on the active roster after Dunn was put on IR it is possible both or one of the two will be elevated permanently to the active roster.

The team presently has two open roster spots open and several players close to being returned from IR or PUP in LJ Collier and Tre Brown, and now Travis Homer. Irvin may come up and down a bit as that can be managed.

Suspect they will activate Collier this week as otherwise his season will be over as he’ll have to go back on IR. Think Brown is still a week or two away yet.

Wonder what if anything the team will do at the trade deadline?

Should be interesting to watch.

Both CB- Tre Brown (PUP) and RB- Travis Homer have been designated to return to practice, decisions will be coming shortly as far as both players return to the active roster.

Interesting connection:

It's noteworthy that Laquon Treadwell, a former 2016 first-round pick, had his best year in 2021, his sixth NFL season, producing a 33-434-1 (receptions-yards-touchdowns) in 12 games (seven starts) with the Jaguars. Seahawks Offensive Pass Coordinator & Wide Receivers Coach Sanjay Lal worked with Treadwell last year when they were both in Jacksonville.

Nice to see you back my good friend. Thanks as ever for your input which is always appreciated. Please don't be a stranger.

Treadwell is potentially a very good WR and was drafted 23rd overall on the 2016 draft by the Vikes. Not the speediest of guys but he has good size and hops. To me he is one of those big possession type WRs, potentially good inside and on the edge.

Here's his combine profile: https://www.nfl.com/prospects/laquon-treadwell/32005452-4542-5415-7fdd-740fe9181fcb
