The interior line has been struggling for some time. It makes little sense to draft pancaking run blockers who are vulnerable to explosive pass rushes if the Pro level play caller ends up calling pass plays 61% of the time. We keep hearing about a balanced attack as a goal. However, to date, that has rarely materialize. If you ask me, it's not a player personnel problem. The Green Bay Packers schooled the Seahawks with an attacking style of play calling on Sunday Night Football. Roughly 50/50 run/pass. Being the aggressor 50% of the time builds linemen chemistry and aggressiveness. Taking the battle to the opponent. Asking linemen who were drafted for their aggressive run blocking at the college level to pull retrograde duty 61% of the time just hasn't work out all that well for them or the team.
College scouting objectives need to align with pro level play calling realities. I just don't see a credible commitment to the run game. In my eyes, it's still too much of a one dimensional play calling offense. Change might have to wait on roster churn leading into the 2025 season.
