Russell Wilson sightings

Would you buy a used car from Russell?

The Russell Wilson brand has flopped since football bread rolls. And then there was Dangerwich. Then there were those perfume ads marketed so the user could imagine the smell in their bedroom. The only time 3Brand clothing comes to mind is when Ciara shows up nearly nude at an Oscar party and you wonder where her clothes are.

His individual brand is non marketable and Ciara just makes it worse.

Russ would fail at podcasting let alone network. He is worse than unentertaining. He inspires the same reaction you get when you click on home shopping network. He’s not getting offers to join Amazon or ESPN, that’s for sure. And hes not starting the next New Heights with Ciara, either.

So that would leave coaching, except that the first rule of as an offensive player is to read the defense. Im not sure Russ could explain it to a 5 year old as that would require understanding it yourself.

A bunch of 49ers from the 1990s started their own private equity group and were early investors in legal pot. Maybe that’s the answer, not necessarily pot but investing with others of similar background whom you trust and who trusts you. But then again, who does?

Russ is in a pickle.
Nice synopsis of a character some fans/observers of his time here have picked up on. He's just so odd. I always thought he wanted to become a cool "power couple" like Beyonce and Jay Z. But the thing is RW is decidedly not cool like Jay Z, and Ciara, from a purely appearance standpoint, doesn't quite complement his smarmy "black Opie" good Christian boy persona. For a guy who is image obsessed, he's proven to be a bit of an awkward and inept fashioner of it.

Totally agree with you about him becoming a successful football pundit, or podcaster, or reality show type of personality. He's just not that interesting of a guy, at least in terms of appealing to anything other than a very small percentage of the audience for such things. He's not enough of a controversial douchebag to attract an audience's attention (there's so many of those around already), and neither is he someone capable of providing any kind of a keen and unique insight into just about any topic of significance you can think of. Such a thing takes a singular mind who is decidedly not obsessed with how their thoughts and opinions are going to be perceived.

I agree. RW is in a pickle. He does have a significant net worth now, and if he manages to live within his means, he'll be just fine from that angle. I do, however, still thinks he sees himself as some kind of significant agent in the Lord's plan. We'll see how that goes.

He's a prototypical nice guy. About the only place he is going to be able to be some sort of agent of influence is in the church.

So is Brock Purdy. But Brock sells, whether that be Toyotas or work boots or seed corn or John Deere.

Purdy is the real deal when it comes to humility. Great guy who doesn't seem to covet the limelight. He just does his thing to the best of his ability, whatever that thing might be. I don't see a comparison of Purdy to Russ being all that reasonable.

I never really thought about this. Did Russ have any big endorsement deals?? I cant recall seeing many (any) outside of the truly horrific subway stuff. Did he have a Beats commercial? Maybe where he didn't actually talk - but just gazed about with a semi-vacant stare?

Trackhawk asserted that Russ being a “prototypical nice guy” limited Russ’ post future, but as seen with Brock, being such a guy is not.

He had a deal with Alaska Airlines during the pandemic where he and Ciara were filmed saying they’d be praying for the brave hero stewards. But that was about it. Nike lets him use the swoosh on his 3Brand.

Brock Purdy does not give off nice guy vibes in the slightest. He appears to be pretty genuine.

Nice guys can be real.
There are genuinely nice people, but by definition, a nice guy is not genuine. His niceness is manipulative and transactional at its core.

He avoids conflict by showing up as whatever he thinks will get him most accepted by the group. People have an unease around him, and distrust of him, because he is insecure, always attempting to be what he thinks others want him to be, instead of taking a stand for who he actually is, and for what he actually believes. Typically he has the attitude of, "I'm not like the others," when, in reality, he is exactly like the others, many times worse than the others, he just hides it under a veil of being an ally. He prioritizes others needs over his own as a way to manipulate, not out of a genuine sense of care. When he gets what he really wants, he is quick to discard the people he used to achieve his goal.

I believe that's Russ. I believe that's why he has left a trail of team mates and coaches who don't seem to like him much. They won't speak ill of him, but it's pretty clear that they don't have the kind of deep friendships that they have with the rest of the team.

Russell is what I call a person that will use you and move on for what he can benefit from, not leave with malice unless you Pete and John, but move on to what in his mind is greener pastures. He is Phony and corny in his dealings with a camera on. He has a high opinion of himself and his brand that really does not match what the rest of the world see's. He knows how to play up a situation, he will be a good teamate in New York, rumblings would hurt his signability somewhere else and he knows it.

The one where only 3% of total money from big donors actually
went to Charity, a tax shelter for him really, he's such a standout
guy.

As @AROS pointed out, Russ had only one job against the eagles and that was throwing one pass. If that pass was a duck that missed, ok, but he dirted it short straight up. It wasn’t tipped. And the ensuing boos from their fans and Brian Daboll having an emotional cardiac event tells you everything right there.

Which is that Russ is really a qb3 day to day. Monday he shares film “insights” going back to the sb and Dart and Skattebo are remembering they were in seventh grade. Wednesday through Friday likely Winston taking the main drills on scout team as he likely relishes defensive trash talk vs tattling to his coach. The main reason Russ is formally qb2 likely has to do with his marketability prior to the trade deadline.

Getting paid 11.5 million to sit there isn’t such a bad deal.

Here, Russ has ditched the Me3 Brand for the crucifix he didn’t wear while promoting it.

What's this guy's religion? Not Christianity, obviously, if we consider Matthew 6:1-8 from that religion's primary document, where Jesus says
“Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
2 “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

Not my religion, but I evidently know it better than Mr. Look-how-pious-I-am.

And I'll raise you this new testament gem:
"And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?"
