Listening to a couple of podcasts about Sunday:
Connor Orr on Head the Call - said watching the game he saw concepts and the overall plan in what Grubb was calling. Talked about routes, setting up plays by running one thing from a certain formation, then changing it up.

Michael Dugar and Christopher Kidd mentioned every game they see plays that should have worked but did not get blocked up.

Is Grubb the coach on the hot-seat or is it the O-line coach? Or higher up and what they are being provided with?

No doubt. Sauce is one hell of a player. I don't care WHO we have out there, a fade against him is so low percentage it's not even worth considering.
The NFL is all about matchups... and it's the OC job to create favorable matchups for the offense. It's that simple in theory... a bit more difficult in practice. Grubb failed miserably on that play because the odds of DK scoring a TD against Sauce on a fade were WAY too low... wasted play that could have been an INT.

Yep. The odds of any WR getting a fade over Sauce are pretty low. Very low really. But, it's DK, he sucks, he can't go up and get it, blah blah blah :ROFLMAO: 🍺

I was against the Grubb and Huff hires. If there was a teeny tiny ounce of some kind of improvement with our offense, then I would give ONE more year, but I would definitely be brining in an experienced senior advisor for sure. That series against Jets when we were in side the 5 and had 8 tries to get in let alone a single god damn yard was Grubb's job. I don't care if we won the game. What if that was a playoff game for the win and that happens.

I don't think he is.

I would personally fire him, yes, but speaking objectively as to what I think is more likely - I think he's gone at end of year.

I think it was a hire that Schneider pushed and that Mike was cool with trying out as a first time HC. I dont think they're a fit, and I don't think this is what Mac wants the team to look like on offense.

Mac is a Harbaugh disciple. He wants toughness, balance, and explosives. Grubb has OL background but operates like a sloppier version of an air raid OC.

They're just not a match. I think we fire Grubb and hire a guy with more NFL experience to really be the CEO of the offense. I could see Schottenheimer being an amazing fit if both parties would be amenable to a round 2. Kevin Stefanski and Mike McDaniel would both be incredible hires should they be fired by their respective teams. We interviewed Chip Kelly and I still think he'd be an amazing fit given the way his offenses have evolved since a decade ago.

Lot of options that would simply work better in practice.

Coach Mike said on his coaches show that is was HIS choice to bring in Grubb. Grubb is who he wanted as OC, and he told JS to hire him.

I can't get that series inside the 5 with 8 tries and not generating a single god damn yard out of my head. Grubb and Huff are done.

Huh. Alright, that's fair then. Either way, I think that Mike probably thought he was getting something different than he actually got. They said a whole lot about the intended identity being that they wanna run the ball and they just haven't been able to. Not much improvement or growth either.

I think we keep him unless some great coordinator comes along. I think they will want to see what can be done behind a solid O line. I do suspect his leash is short

When I watch this team I have relatively high hopes of moving the ball, I don’t trust our power game and I cross my fingers when it comes to Geno so I would like to see Grubbs run it back one time with an offseason of personnel improvements

Grubb is like in his 60s right?. He's probably a genius about xs and os. I see the offense looking confused a bit. Coaches get more time. We set a record number of first downs and had a highly ranked passing offense. Good stuff to build on. The one yard issue is baffling.

The NFL is a passing league so I think he stays for at least a couple of seasons. One thing I would change is John’s view that guards are overrated. That’s proven wrong week after week.
John might be right ...however there is a minimum and I think we keep falling below it.

Wouldn’t lose sleep over him getting canned. But like some are saying, first year OC in the NFL, a lot of new coaches and systems. So maybe another year to see if it’s just growing pains? However I am not liking what I am seeing in even basic conceptual aspects of our offense.

Jury is out still. I do worry about sunk costs if this was his learning season where we've taken the ups and downs and we fire him only for him to have adjusted at his next team. We saw what he could do when the o-line was functioning at UW
