The biggest question about this team is the offense. I do not think the Hawks have the O line to do what Grubb probably wants to do. Grubb is a first time O coordinator in the NFL and I don't see how it's improbable for him to take his lumps his first year especially with a first year HC. I think if Geno goes down this team is screwed. I think this team is learning a new system and it's going to take some time to get good at what they want to do...

Defensively I think they will be a little better than last year.. I like their D line very stout I like the pass rush hopefully they stay healthy... love the secondary awesome players... the linebackers have something to prove. I think the D is going to be better than the O. But I think the whole team is going to be better in the second half of the season than the first half.

Again the key for this team is keeping Geno healthy and to get good play out of the O line. Let's see how Grubb transitions into the NFL.

LOTS of question marks in my mind but again I have not been following the Seahawks at all.

I think the Hawks will go 8-9 missing the playoffs. I think .NET makes Grubb the devil and calls for his job by the 6th week.

Tell me I'm wrong 😆 🤣 😂

Edit: one more thing I think Grubb is going to completely go off on DK and make DK a non factor. DK'S EGO ISNT GOING ANYWHERE. Geno is the only chance this O has...he goes down so does the season.

With the success Grubb had at UW, I think Geno would be ahead of him on the scapegoat list if the offense struggles.

Grubb was a O line coach, he can coach them up and he can identify physical traits he needs, his offense also works with what he has like at UW with limited Running game he created a passing control offense that kept defenses just honest enough with a run game, UW had one of the best lines in college.

I hope he transitions well... I'm not against him I just think it's not easy... we will see... hope I'm wrong.

I know there's going to be growing pains. 8-9 is very acceptable to me.

I'm just not buying into the hype...

It's acceptable to me as well..

I thought I was going to carry a grudge because the fired Carroll and I did for a while but they made the choice they thought was the best choice. Now it doesn't matter. It is what it is...

Now I am not attached and have no bias... this is good... I like it...it's a freedom.

Well the speed and ability to react is going to be faster across the board, his plays that are designed for timing will need to be executed faster and more precisely in the NFL, technique as in blocking and route running etc across the board also needs to be more fine tuned, no sloppiness that could be gotten away with in college athletes. Tighten up the standards for another level. He may need to adjust, but if he understands where he had a 1/2 in of play in college, he has 1/16 here now.

I agree for the most part. At least on paper, they already look better on defense than they have been in previous years. The big question mark will be the offense.

And yes, I, too, think that Metcalf could be a problem. If he didn't respect the grandfatherly Pete Carroll, a Lombardi winning borderline HOF coach, I don't think that there's any way in hell that he'll heed the advice of these young whipper snappers.

If they are better than 8-9 that's just sugar on my bowl of strawberries!

I'm very interested to see the dynamics of this new coaching staff and how it relates to the players! This first year is going to be a feeling out process.

Like Grubb and Metcalf. I don't believe for one second that Metcalf is going to change who he is... the question is how is the coaching staff going to react to that? It's interesting...

Geno is another one how will he deal with the brashness of Grubb when things get tough? He will probably be OK but it's going to be fun to watch these dynamics develope as WE DONT KNOW! What the media says is not necessarily what's happening... we have to wait until the season starts until the Seahawks see adversity.

I agree totally... it's going to be a process and it's not going to happen immediately I don't think... they are going to be better in the back half of the season the question is how many games does it take them to dial it in?

Sorry, if I don't agree with your negative outlook on a losing season. I'm thinking we will go 10-7 maybe even 11-6.
The way I see this season starting off is with Conner Willams and Abe Lucus both missing the first two games, but thats ok, we'll win those games without them. Geno will be fine !
Our defense will be Awesome ! Finishing ranked 14th in th NFL.

Our rushing game will blossom once Willams and Lucus return from vacation. Over all this will be a good season to be a 12. Get the wagon ready !

Cheers

The offense goes as the offensive line goes, I think. Over two years, Geno has been superb with even mediocre line play. The inverse is also very true.

Maybe Grubb can adapt better than Waldron if the line play is bad, but it's a hard thing to overcome consistently in the league.

A healthy Connor Williams could change everything.

I think Grubb has some questions that need to be answered. One is how he transitions from coaching boys to coaching men. The other is how his offensive scheme transfers to the NFL. I'm rooting for him! I just think it takes time to make things click

Defense is going to look VASTLY different. OL will be the detriment to how far the team will go as per usual.

The end.
I think the D has a chance to be really good. The question is how long will it take to learn the system, how long will it take them to react to being in the right position with out thinking about it. But the real question is how many games will they lose before they gain that continuity? I think these are all reasonable points... so my thought is there is question until they prove it.

Some think I'm being negative, I think I'm being realistic. I think fans expectations are to high. I think 8-9 9-8 is realistic and I'm happy with that. But if it turns out they are better faster than just sugar on my bowel of strawberries!

I could see us winning as few as 7 games and as many as 10.

A season prediction before you see even 1 pre season game? Before we even know how the o line will shake out ? Before the team cuts down to 53?

Way to early for me to go there.

Seahawks.net commentary, in general, can be best described as a wet blanket. For any newish visitors out there, a good rule of thumb is to add +10 optimism to any given thread if you are seeking a realistic assessment. I typically don't dwell here any length of time because the taxation on my fandom is a just little too steep for any sustained enjoyment. Who, in their right mind, would want to hang with a room full of Debbie Downers on a regular basis? How can such persistent group misery even be considered enjoyable?
