I agree both defenses played a major factor in the poor QB play. My point is just that even accounting for that, Darnold won't throw four picks again and Stafford wont go 15/28, missing some throws he doesn't usually miss.

In both cases the defenses deserve the credit for it. But McVay's playcalling was also definitely impacted by the flow of the game, if we prefer to use that term.

My whole entire point is - when we meet again later this year, this game will not mean a damn thing, nor will it dictate or tell us how it will play out. Both QBs were off and enough other weirdness happened that likely won't happen again.
I get your point, but every game means something. Both teams can take something from this game. And no 2 games are same so of course their next match up won't look the same. I just don't veiw this to say, Stafford won't miss throws like he did. Or the flow of the game impacted Mcvay's play calling. Stuff like that happens in football and its usually because the other team made it go that way for it to happen.

Thanks for sharing. Cut way back on turnovers and they win that game. Frustrating, yes, but the Hawks are a damn good team. I love our chances to make a deep run. Definitely a missed opportunity on Sunday. Stoked for Round 2.

The rest of the team played better , but the most important position did not. Superbowls have been won and lost on QB play alone.
They’ve also been won with very mediocre to poor quarterback play. They’ll face the Rams two more times and kick everyone else’s ass in the process. Enjoy the process

But I feel like what's happening that I push back on is that there is a constant refrain of "If Darnold doesn't play that poorly..." - that wasn't the only variable here. Sure the Rams defense played very well - but its almost a virtual lock to say he won't throw 4 picks again. I also think its a virtual lock to say Stafford will play better too. In both cases the defenses played a role - but the Rams defense didn't make Darnold throw those picks vs taking sacks, and the Seahawks defense didn't make Stafford miss open throws. In both cases the pressure contributed, but in both cases those QBs have played better/made different decisions with the same type of pressure.

I think we are headed for a shootout in the next game.

They are as good or better than the Rams. And not because of my hate for them or my Hawks homer thing. I know what my eyes saw. They only won game because of the 4 turnovers and the short fields. Can't wait for round 2. The Rams offense did little to nothing in that game.
I just can't be impressed with a team who barely wins, with SEVERAL short fields, and when the opponent throws 4 picks.
