Where do you think Geno currently ranks among NFL QBs in terms of his overall caliber?

QBs who are definitely ranked above Geno:

1) Mahomes

QBs who you can make a convincing argument for being above Geno on the basis of production but have their own issues with consistency:

2)Jackson, 3)Allen, 4) Burrow

QBs with a promising future and very early in their careers that you might want to take over Geno today:

5) Stroud, 6) Purdy

QBs who are probably around the same level as Geno IMO but I would struggle to be convinced that they are significantly superior:

Prescott, Herbert, Love, Hurts, Tagovailoa, Goff, Carr, Mayfield

QBs well past their prime and one injury from retiring that I wouldn't rank over Geno as a result:
12) Rodgers, 13) Stafford 14) Cousins

There's nobody else in the league that I think you would take over him.

On that basis I think 5-10 is reasonable, though it's more like 8-12 really. If you want to argue that someone like Love or Carr is better than Geno at any given moment you are welcome to, but I don't think there's all that much between them that it's black and white.

I'm looking through the lens of right now...not past returns or future potential. I would not rank Jackson or Burrow based on 2024 performance.
Allen is the only QB playing near Geno right now.

Neither are above Geno currently.

Carr is lights out and Mayfield/Hurts are both playing good ball right now. The others are mid-level or worse.

Murray is the player missing that is on fire. With that said, I think Geno is on-par with Allen, Carr & Murray. I think he's top 5 and maybe even toward the top of that list.

He was already somewhere between 9 and 13 in QBR with Waldron calling plays. 6 to 10 is where he's likely landing now if you were to take project his performance over the course of the season. But i can see him tickling 5. The dude is too accurate and too gifted a passer to not think he could lead the league in comp percentage again and given Grubbs background, throw for massive yards.

I would take Smith in a HEARTBEAT over Hurts! Please.
Every bit as good if not better than Goff.
Love needs a bigger sample size than just the last part of last season.
Tua? Meh.

I wouldn't rank any player based on 2 games in 2024 so far - so much is always determined by schedule, system, teams getting up to speed etc. Mahomes had a pretty awful start to 2023 with 5 really average to poor games in his first 8 - but he is still the guy you would take every day of the week over any other.

I do believe Geno has the capability to vault himself to the top of the list and I bakc him to do so, but he needs to show it over another full season before I am ready to annoint him a top 3 player

If we're ranking them based on the current level and not long-term value, then my top twelve are:

1: Mahomes
2: Allen
3: Herbert
4: Jackson
5: Stafford
6: Prescott
7: Geno
8: Rodgers
9: Stroud
10: Burrow (Let's face it, he hasn't looked like the same guy)
11: Lawrence
12: Murray

Notes:

#1 Purdy, Cousins, Carr, Tua, and Goff are the same guy. On paper, these are the modern game managers whose performance will rise and fall dramatically with the talent around them.

#2 Jalen Hurts is not a good QB. His throwing splits make 35-year-old Wilson look elite. He's a halfback playing QB.

If Goff, Tua, Love and Hurts are A tier, then G is definitely A tier. IMHO.

I totally disagree with a bunch of these. Jordan Love has had a good half a season. He hasn't earned A tier status yet. Goff is not A tier, he's B tier. Prescott, Smith and Stafford belong on A tier.

I don't understand the overwhelming love for Josh Allen. He's led the league in total turnovers (INTs + lost fumbles) for most of his career. Even if his other attributes are stellar that's enough to drop him well out of "S" tier. One of the most overrated players in the game today.

In fairness, he doesn't have an interception this season yet.
