Yeah...but there is some grey area there. I thought of that one so did some digging there.

He had already played a few years of pro ball with the Baltimore Colts before the franchise folded.

1) Every Local Journalist doesn't agree with Arlos. DO they have issues with Trey and are concerned? Absolutely...but the consensus do not have remotely close to his take.
Idk man the national sports media is starting to call it one of the worst trades in history. Surprised Lynch is still employed tbh

...I was looking for good QBs.

It's really easy to think your team was always successful if you just ignore the failures.

Also, the 49ers took Earl Morrall, Billy Kilmer, and Steve Spurrier in the 1st round. Morrall and Kilmer both had solid, if not spectacular, careers, though not with the 49ers. Spurrier was a huge bust.

Right...

....but I was responding to someone saying teh Seahawks had never had a successful 1st round QB so I was looking for one the Niners had drafted.

I've lived through Erickson, Nolan, Singletary, Tomsula, Kelly, etc, etc. I'm well aware of what failure looks like.

Lance's stat line looked good in the first week of preseason, but he threw some abslute ducks. And three of the sacks he took were really, really ugly (in terms of a lack of awareness and not getting rid of the ball).

He has 2 really bad decisions that were nearly picked off. He had a few plays where he really should have pulled the trigger and for some reason held the ball. He also threw 2 or 3 passes that were impressive (one where he dropped the ball in behind the linebacker....but that's not enough.

He doesn't cannon the ball on every throw anymore. He's actually shortened his release and the ball comes out much faster...as long as he pulls the trigger.

If he can start making faster decisions and letting it rip, he'll look much better. Problem is that I said the same thing about Alex Smith and it took him almost 10 years to develop and even then he was too risk averse.

Remains to be seen with Trey. He didn't play well on Sunday, but national media reaction is just WAY, WAY over the top.

Agree with this. Pundits are just piling on, they love to kick a guy when he's down. Lance hasn't been terrible, and it's only preseason anyway.

I'm kind of surprised that Shanahan has made up his mind so fast, with a couple of viable options there in addition to Brock Purdy. And is Purdy such a huge upgrade over Garoppolo? I don't believe it. You could argue that Garoppolo had a bigger upside.

In the long run, Lynch and Shanahan might regret how they treated Jimmy. Jimmy might not have been elite, but you could win with Jimmy. He did everything they asked of him, and more, even though they treated him like shit.

Here's an interesting take on the situation:
