Should Seahawks use Rashid more as a #2 WR?

They have intentionally been keeping Shaheed under wraps. They have a surprise play or two to unwrap this Sunday just for the Patsies. ;)
Well if we are blessed, it will only be one chance for a kick off return

Based on what exactly? Is it the one fumble in eleven career post season games? Or is it the six fumbles in the past eighty-seven regular season games? One of his "fumbles" in the 2022 season was the last play of the game where he was trying to lateral during the Rams attempt to pitch the ball back and forth in the last seconds trying to win the game against the Bucs. So, pretty much boils down to five fumbles in more than five seasons worth of games. Interestingly enough his one game with multiple "fumbles" was against Chicago in 2019. If you watch the first play where he is credited with a fumble, the DB is starting to strip the ball, but Kupp steps out before the ball comes out. Not sure why they determined that he fumbled before the foot was out, but watching the replay, doesn't seem to line up with what the record shows. But, yeah I can definitely see why someone would think he has a fumble problem.
The reach against the Rams was nearly a fumble as well. Don't take it bad because my complaining is a good luck charm.

I complained about DK Metcalf and then the Seahawks got draft capital for him. I complained about the lack of a screen pass to the running back, it suddenly showed up on the call sheet, and it has been well choreographed ever since. I complained about Riq Woolen's ball tracking and then someone coached him up into a fantastic turnaround. I complained about K9 not making people miss, not breaking tackles, not bursting when in the open and then someone coached him up to do all three. Another remarkable turnaround. Whenever I have complained, a remarkable turnaround occurred afterwards. It makes me believe that this is one well coached team. Recognizing and fixing the glaring problems as they go.

I see Kupp fumble in the Red Zone against the Rams in week 16, then I see Kupp nearly fumble against the Rams in the NFCCG when reaching for a first down at crunch time. What do you think the peanut punchers in the Patriots db room are being shown this week? I am complaining. I am doing my preemptive "good luck" mojo here before the freaking Super Bowl so stop with the drama (not you, others).

But I will admit the following: My two biggest fears in the Super Bowl are 1) Immediate interior pressure on Sam Darnold by DT Milton Williams. 2) An untimely fumble by Cooper Kupp because in two recent games he has flashed it as a vulnerability.

I don't want YAC from Kupp. Find the hole in the zone, move the chains, protect the ball, sit down. If we are going for YAC, then toss it to Walker, Shaheed, Barner, or JSN.

Exactly what I've been thinking.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Arroyo have a substantial play or two drawn up for him either.

That would be nice, but that sort of thing never seems to materialize.

Then again, there was Chris Matthews...

But, yeah, they should once in a while, like on 2nd and short, send him for a long one, just to keep them honest. Might help clearing the mid level throws.

He's a true #3. He cannot be completely trusted to make catches with any amount of catch point contact. He needs a good deal of real estate to secure the ball. He is lights out after that. If anything I'd like to see him schemed open like Jailen Naylor (hope I spelt that right im not looking it up) for Minnesota. Naylor can't make a contested catch either but benefits from the other two very good recievers they have, and plays for him are setup out of trips and other 3 reciever concepts that employ 4 total WRs with the X opposite of trips.

I would argue that Sheed has better hands than Nailor.

I saw Darnold throw to him during big division games with the Vikings and he had some horrific drops against the Lions that could've led to victories had he caught the ball.

I admit not knowing a lot about Shaheed before the trade. I knew he was a speed guy, high YPC, high TD ratio, and he could return kicks.

Watching his highlights from '23-24 was interesting, though probably not surprising. Granted these were highlights, but it pretty well aligned with what we have seen this year. 90% of the catches were deep, behind the defense stuff or screen passes. Not really many over the middle ~maybe one iirc~ or in contested situations.

So maybe this just is who he is; awesome returner, good #3 WR who will never be a volume guy, but boy you better respect him deep or he can kill you. Be nice to see him and Sam connect on a deep route or two before Sunday is over. The potential is definitely there. Overall his usage was much higher in NO than it has been here, so there is growth there to be had.

Thanks for all the replies. I just hope in any fashion, with whom ever is playing wide receiver, that the Hawks win. Like you, I still suffer from that Butler interception. It still hurts. Time to rub that hurt away, no matter who plays wide receiver. Just get open, get deep. and score over and over again. Go Hawks.

I do appreciate Shaheed, and I think that without him, the Seahawks don't win that second game against the Rams. He has truly had an impact on the Seahawks' offense and special teams this season.
