The 49ers have a better defense than Denver

In my opinion but obviously their offense is limited with their O line interior and the quarterback position. 10 point underdogs is about right given all the rookies we start but I like our chances. We always seem to ball out against them.

Hawks 23-21

Yessir they do indeed! Gonna be a tough game, but the question is do we have a better D than Chicago? The monsoon like rains did the SF offense no favors, if we can force some mistakes from Lance and Geno just runs the script we got a shot.

Bears fan here. Bears D definitely got some help from the rain, but I would expect Lance will be more comfortable in his home stadium and fans.

I am going to be interested in how Cross blocks Nick Bosa. Rookie LT Braxton Jones got beat one time by Bosa but otherwise played well. 49ers have solid run defense, so Geno is going to have to move it through the air IMO.

That’s a tall order. Bosa is like this lightening ball of energy that doesn’t quit on any plays. Might have to scheme away from him and Geno has got to climb the pocket

The whiners may have a better D than Denver, but they have a **WAY** worse QB. If we can stop the run, we should shut them out. Then we only need to kick a single FG (or better yet, get a safety) to win. Since they have Trey Lancet we should be able to stuff the box with impunity. If the whiners keep Jimmy GQ on the bench Pete can run a 1950s style D...

That’s why I am curious. Braxton took him 1-on-1 all day. He is for the Bears what Abe Lucas is for the Seahawks. Bears brought in Reiff — who was a starter for the Bengals in2021 to play left tackle. Braxton beat him out in training camp. Not bad for a 5th round pick!

I am equally impressed with Lucas. His technique is excellent. In fact, he looks as good as Cross to me. What’s your opinion on him?

Cross can handle Bosa but he’s a rookie so he might get beat once or twice. The Bears did a great job containing the D line of SF. That kind of surprised me. I’m sure Pete is looking at that SF-Bears film

Bosa moves around. When he went to the right side, Borom and Jenkins doubled on him a few times, but Borom did well by himself.

Most people don’t know how well the Bears and Seahawks young tackles are playing. Everyone expected Cross would be very good, but Lucas is the guy who surprised me. So far, he’s not playing like a rookie.

That's like saying Pizza tastes better than Broccoli. Obviously the Niners defense is better. But the Hawks D is going from the player who won't be named to Trey Lance. MASSIVE drop off at that position.

The Niners Defense is legit, but Denver also has a damn good Defense.

Abe Lucas on the right our rookie right tackle is rated as the best rookie O lineman after week one and is about as solid as it gets. Still that being said Bosa is Bosa and will be very disruptive. Need to utilize our tight ends big time in this game having a two and three tight end set at times and try to hit DK or Lockett over the top a few times this game. Geno moves well within the pocket even so we’re gonna pound the rock a lot with Penny and Walker on Sunday
