Third round QBs have a shockingly poor hit rate, so if he falls in line with the 95%+ of them who never become more than backups, itll be a wash in that regard, but there will be the wasted opportunity cost on finding a player at a different position who could have contributed much more.

Milroe was pretty open in pre-draft process that he's only interested in being a QB. If he ends up converting to another position, it'll likely be due to a lack of options, which probably would come years down the line with another team.

This is the most intriguing pick of the draft. 90% he could bust, but if he hits, it's a huge jackpot. Chances he "hits" with good coaching are much better odds than the Seahawks getting a top 3 pick, which is mandatory now if you want an Archie Manning type prospect.

At first I wanted that center, but this like Mega Millions, you HAVE to buy a ticket. The explosive ability as a runner and the arm strength can't be coached. The footwork and accuracy issues can be.

I think he'll have a higher floor than Justin Fields, and much higher ceiling than Kyler Murray. Maybe that's wishful thinking now he's a Seahawk, but I've always wanted a dynamic dual threat quarterback without the height issues. The coaches don't need to try to mold him into a pure pocket passer. Use his gifts as a runner to give defenses nightmares.

He has the potential to develop into a good quarterback. He also could bust at the position, however, I think he has the skills to succeed in some capacity in football even if his career is mix matching him around the field

My rate is based on the one All-Pro season that has come from a third round QB among the 59 who have been drafted since Joe Montana 46 years ago. It was a second-team All-Pro from the QB you would think got it. Also, since 2000, non-Russ QBs drafted in the third have a combined three Pro Bowl seasons, two from Schaub and one from Foles, and in only one of those three (Schaub, 2012) was the QB not an alternate. I think that's a pretty good sample size.

I guess you could also say we've never missed on drafting an Alabama QB before.

I'm not going to dog on the pick. Before the draft I told myself that I'd be good if they saw a QB they wanted and took a stab. I'm not a big fan of Milroe as strictly a QB, maybe they can develop him in the long term, who knows. It should be interesting watching what they do with him.

If one of these other guys who went later turn out to be good a QB and Milroe amounts to nothing then yeah I imagine that storyline will be the butt of jokes for a long time to come. But despite the lack of success of QB's hitting in the 3rd round, I always say you can't win the lottery if you don't even play.

Not mentioned is Melroe's 1st year impact on getting the Seahawks defense ready during the week for RPO match ups. As well as the extra practice time robbed from opponents in preparing for spot appearances. A lot of his first year contributions will come during the week of game day preparations. Though those week day preparations are not at all visible to game day fans, he will be an important influence come game day. Looking forward to spot appearance in year one on game day.

After sleeping it off and reading a lot of different posts, as much as I don't like this pick I really hope for the team's sake that it pans out. I'm going to trust JS/MM to know what they're doing and hope for the best possible outcome. I've seen Milroe play in Alabama games, and I'm not exactly a fan of his. BUT, I hope he makes me eat so much crow by the team hitting the jackpot and being our next QBOTF. I hope he balls out and leads this team to a Superbowl.

One of Milroe's most impressive qualities in my opinion was his responses during the interview following his pre-draft visit to Seattle. His answers were very revealing on what type person/player he will be. I am now all in with him. He knows exactly what the situation is for him will be here and he thinks that is the best possible situation he could imagine.
That is exactly what you need for/from a rookie QB prospect.

Unfortunately this is how I feel too. I am going to keep an open mind though. Maybe he turns out to be great. Who knows. Also, the one area I trust JS is QB's. Sure he says some silly stuff about FA pickups like Howell and so forth, but I do believe he has an eye for QB talent according to what the team needs.

Of course he is going to put forward his dream of being an NFL starting QB. I see him as having a good a chance as any prospect. When he fails to gain a starting job, he will come around on playing 2 QB sets, or WR/RB packages.
