Jeezus. This is Pete Carrolls defense and has been for 10 years. Norton is a happy placeholder. Only people that haven't been around this team for a decade would argue otherwise.
When you have a depleted DL and OL you have jack squat. Yet Pete Carroll has found a way to the playoffs yet AGAIN and somehow it isn't good enough.

Explain how Norton is the problem...Please be specific.

Would you like to take a look at how the DLINE performed with and without Quinn? Bennett said Quinn changed his career and gives him a lot of credit for his success- also why he came back from TB.

So yeah, I'm being specific- add a coordinator who is a technically superior DLINE coach.. Norton is a LB specialty and our LBs have been't been good in coverage or run game for most of the 2nd half of the year.

Amazing how good the D-Coordinator was when you had one of the deepest D-lines in team history.

Bennett
Avril
Clemons
Irvin
Bryant
Mebane

AND one of the greatest defensive backfields in the history of the league making it much easier on the D-line.

Bradley, Quinn, Richard, Norton........it's the same people running the same schemes. Pete's schemes. Only thing that's different is the players they had and have to work with.

Let's just play good D on Sunday. Nothing that happened up to this point matters. It just matters what they do on Sunday. Force some turnovers, play disciplined and get that W.

We HAVE a D-Line coach that just does nothing but THAT. The D.C. in Pete's system is basically a purveyor of information to Pete. Pete is actually the D.C. And if Quinn is such a superior D-Line coach, what is wrong with Atlantas D-Line?

Changing him won't do jack squat to help a line devoid of speed off the edges. Unfortunately the draft next year is full of very good WR's and RB's but NOT EDGE rushers. If they have enough cap space and depending on whether the sign Clowney, maybe they can go for a guy like Dante Fowler in F.A.

6106 total yards allowed, the 2nd most in franchise history. Only the 2000 team allowed more with 6391

6.0 yards per play, the second most in franchise history.

These numbers per Tim Booth in this morning's column.

For all the criticisms of Pete I read here, the ones calling him out on the regression of the defense is the most valid based on these numbers (and the eye test) imo.

Thank you for posting this. If they can't beat a beat up eagles team I'm officially done with Pete.
