That said, I just don't see this team getting hot again. The offense is old and out of gas, the rotation has huge holes in it, and the bullpen is showing itself to be Edwin Diaz plus a bunch of schmoes. Even during the post all-star break "boon" in which Seattle has been five games over .500, they've posted a negative run differential.
IMO, Seattle should blow up this team during the offseason and get a head start on the rebuild. Even if Seattle starts off hot again in 2017, I wouldn't trust a roster this old to hold up over 162 games.
I stated the blow up train a while back and it is the right thing to do,it will hurt for awhile but you have to start from farm up as we do not have the Yankee $ to short cut it.We fo have some nice pieces to keep.I like the closer,Pax,KS and Z has redeemed himself. All the others can be traded because we need all the prospects we can collect.Hire damn good scouts too and leave no rock unturned.Hawk-Lock":255enym0 said:kearly":255enym0 said:It's incredible that Seattle is still a playoff relevant team after going 2-7 in their last nine games. They either need to blow it up or swing for the fences next year (which doesn't seem likely). I'm in favor of blowing it up, this team was put together a couple years ago to contend sooner than later. That obviously isn't working.
And the only reason we are still in playoff contention is because teams like Baltimore and Detroit haven't been playing all that great. I will never bet against the Royals, they are the Seahawks of the MLB. They just find a way to get it done. I personally wrote them off because of their lack of pitching, but they are proving me wrong.

If I could trade away the Mariners and the Sounders for the Sonics I'd do it in a heartbeat.

If I could trade them for the Sonics of yesteryear I'd be game. An expansion franchise in today's NBA, the world of superteams and style over substance? No thanks. Hopefully the Mariners new ownership will turn things around for the organization as much as Howard Schultz' ownership of the Sonics doomed them.
