Walker is hot garbage. He is the classic example of the "potential" guy who everyone says "next year" with. While he is still young, he has a good amount of innings under his belt at the MLB level. He constantly gets outplayed by those around him (Paxton has always outplayed him, both were brought up together around the same time). Even scrubs who we picked up like LeBlanc and Miranda have been better and more consistent than Walker.

We probably can't trade him now that his value is all but gone. I say hold onto him, and just don't count on him being anything more than our #4 or #5 starter. Gone are the days of hoping he would be the #2 behind Felix. You just can't depend on him. It's crazy to think we could have traded him for almost anyone two years ago at the deadline.

Walker's problems are strictly between the ears.
He has all of the physical tools to be an Ace or Ace-lite, at worst case, a rock solid #2.

Patience is wearing thin with him.

His problems aren't just mental. He doesn't have secondary offerings. His fastball is very hittable.

He's regressed quite a bit. At this point, he's a thrower, not a pitcher. He still has time but he has a lot of work to do. Hopefully he gets healthy this offseason and figures it out.

Kyle just nailed the pitcher, Shoemaker. Line drive to the right side of the head. They got him standing up and walking off, with some help. Hope he's OK. Never like to see things like that.

Our fans applauded when they saw him on his feet, thanks for being classy guys.

You are correct, strictly was a bad choice of a word, I should have said "mainly".
Like they said in the pregame his mechanics need work, like going to a full windup.

But, IMHO the mental side is his biggest obstacle.

It's the absolutely worse part of baseball, and it's sickening when it happens. They say the exit velocity off the bat was 104mph.

The good news is he wasn't knocked out and was able to walk off the field.
Hopefully the guy has a quick and speedy recovery.

I've often thought they should develop some kind of head protection for the pitcher. Typical batting helmet wouldn't work, of course, but there must be a way. That could have been fatal.

I was more right about Walker than I thought I would be. I feel I owe everyone an apology.

A below average mediocre team comes into Safeco and we make them look like WS contenders. Unreal. Pissing the season away.

Back to the solo homers. Can't hit with men on base, can't get men on base for the power swings.

If you fell into a coma in 2002 and just woke up, you didn't miss anything with the Mariners.

I think Walker will be just fine,he still has that foot injury even though he is able to pitch with it(not really)I just want this team to finish decent. There is so many holes ect to fill and after 1 season of this I hope the GM/Manager understand what they are building towards from here on with a solid plan.I look foward to trades/draft as I believe draft picks can be traded next year(a first)I myself wish they would hire Hoyer off the Cubs for the rebuild but thats me and hire many scouts. The Cubs when Theo took over went from 6 to 50.I dunno how many the M's have but cannot be many from looks of it.

No way man. How long are we going to wait for someone develop? Ackley, Smoke, Saunders, Ryan, League.... Just a few that come to mind where we waited too long for them to develop. All the talent in the world, but couldn't pull it together. Time to cut our losses with Walker and move on. IMHO

This time of the year the cream really begins to rise to the top and the turds are always forced to the bottom.

Ffs, Our sister team is the Padres! Do we really need to hang out with other losers? I swear I believe they hang out during the off season with the Clippers and Browns and whatever the suckiest soccer and hockey teams are and play video games or something.

Does anyone care about the 14-6 win over the Rangers? Too little, too late. Where was the fight the last few weeks? After watching the team fold twice this season, I'm ready to move along and look forward to 2017.

Well it was nice to see us beat the Rangers this year. At long last. :2thumbs:

If they can gain ground in the WC race (get to within 1-3 games back) I might consider taking the family to a weekday game towards the end of the season. Never know...

I don't really care. The season is all but over unless this team has a miracle run in them. We are 5 GB with only 25 games left, and we have 5 teams inbetween us and the last WC spot. Our chances are very slim.

On a side note, Felix has looked really bad his last couple outings. Was hoping he'd end on a strong note. I think if this team finishes slightly above .500 it is still somewhat of a failure season. People will try to draw positives since we were so bad last year, but people forget we were nearly a playoff team two years ago and last season was more of an anomaly.
