Huge win and at LA of all places!

It's in our hands now. If we don't beat Chicago who are awful then we don't deserve to be in the play offs. I feel confident about beating Houston and Vancouver but the Dallas game is going to be tough.

Hoping they rest players for the play offs at that point or Portland drops another game before then as I don't feel confident about it.

If Schmetzer makes the play offs given how bad we have been at points this year then he deserves the job.

I've done a 180 on Schmetzer, the players seem to have responded well to him and this is a veteran enough team where that's all you really need..........an open minded manager willing to change formations (anti rigid Sigi) that works well and is like by the players.

Best thing that's come out of the past 2-3 matches is Morris, awesome to see him loose and finishing chances........which was his bugaboo.

If Sigi was coach we would have lost yesterday. I like that we didn't and it's mostly the same roster Sigi had. Yes Schmetz has Lodeiro but Sigi had Dempsey most of the time.

Still think we need a rebuild next year, no matter how this one goes. Especially at full back but I just don't see guys like Evans, Valdez, etc sticking around and Scott is retiring.

Read about Dempsey at lunch, not good news.

Hopefully it's just a precautionary thing and not that he had some issues after his week of training.

That sucks. Hopefully the team dont go into the chicago game with their heads down now after their best game of the season.

Hopefully Morris keeps up the good finishing and by some miracle Valdez finds some kind of form, scores and opens up the flood gates.

Ugly win, but we'll take it.

A little worried about heading up to Vancouver without Lodeiro, he IS the engine of this team. I even told my wife who will play Candy Crush while watching not paying attention to spend 10 minutes just watching Lodeiro....................she said "wow, he's all over the place."

Sums it up perfectly. Boca was insane to let him go.

Thats a bummer about Dempsey. Hopefully he's able to recover and take up some sort of return to soccer. In the last few years both Donovan and now likely Dempsey have moved away from the USMNT.

Some tough transitions coming... but has anyone here watched Pulisic? Kid is legit.

I try, but it's hard to get Dortmund matches.............but Pulisic came on and pulled them from a loss with a great burst of speed and cross in Champion's League yesterday.

Just turned 18? Ridiculous amount of composure and decision making for a young player like that, especially from the US playing against global superstars.

I've watched most of his appearances. He's a mix of Donovan and Dempsey already, at 18. Hoping there is some central oriented players rising through the USMNT ranks that will be able to support him at the next World Cup. Morris and Wood will do well in that forward rank. Possibly Nagbe on the other side. Just need a 6 and 8.

Timbers lost and Rsl losing. Means if we lose without Lodeiro tomorrow its not a disaster but also gives us a great chance to build up a cushion on portland and climb up the table with a win.

The Sounders got screwed early by the referee but they overcame that and got the 3pts. Nice win without Lodeiro. Just need to keep it going.

How did they get screwed? It was clearly a penalty for Vancouver.

The Evans red card was harsh but Evans was an idiot even moving his head like that when the ref was looking to even it up. Plus it was late in the game. He might win a challenge.

Do we just need one more win to clinch or a win and Portland loss? Hope Morris and the others arent away on international duty during our games.

Thought Ozzy was outstanding tonight and a true leader. Also glad we won without Lodeiro.

Maybe it was just me but it didn't seem intentional to me. I've seen much worse not called. The referee was at least consistent throughout his calls.

Evans has a short fuse and needs to learn some poise especially if he's going to be the captain of the team. There was no reason to do what he did. Although Blas Perez is bonehead and probably baited him (Perez wasn't the player Evans was fighting with but was right there next to them)

I think with Evans it was just the perfect storm of him being out of his mind frustrated with not playing for a while helping his team and Perez being one of the biggest jackasses in the league knowing exactly how to push player's buttons.

There are a handful of players in the league that do nothing but create nonsense for other teams, spending more time arguing, fighting, chirping and cheap shotting other players.........rather than just play soccer. Perez is at the top of that list, even more so now that he's old and washed up.

Can one of the more knowledgeable soccer fans explain something to me? Seattle earned their penalty thanks to a handball in the box, but the player that committed the foul wasn't carded. I thought handballs in the box were an automatic booking. Am I wrong?
