Everyone says rental, NOBODY ******* knows that, he may be in a contract year with half a season to go, John would not grab a guy especially rather cheap that he didn't think he could resign. The team culture, familiar with Kubiak, a QB that can get him the ball virtually anywhere, oh and we are winning. Furthermore, we have a reputation of taking care of our own guys. Kupp could retire but it appears Coaching could be his next venture. People that look at his receptions and yard miss some valuable contributions he makes without the ball. He is a devastating blocker for the run game, he is teaching the young guys how to be a pro and is a team leader. Much like Lawyer Milloy was when Kam and the LOB first started.

I don't think the draft picks matter all that much in negotiations.

"he's worth X amount of dollars to us".
Oh, but you gave up two draft picks for him.
"He's still worth X amount of dollars to us. If he leaves in free agency we'll get at least one of those back in a compensatory pick."

The price doesn't increase just because we traded two lowish value picks for him. I don't think JS gives a flying crap about some sort of embarrassment because they traded for him and it only ends up being for half a season.

Speaking of Kupp and Coaching, I think if the Hawks offered him a position as a WR coach (or maybe an understudy with the current WR coach so he can learn), he'd take it.

Either the Hawks win in the postseason (like the NFC Championship or Super Bowl), and no one cares if this guy is a rental, or they don't win, and no one cares either. He's insurance for JSN. If we win the Show, I don't care if we have ANY draft picks in '26.

Considering that the 2026 draft is looking like pure ASS, they can have all of them for all I care if we win the SB.

Kupp’s true value (to me) was never if he could produce on the field at a high level, it was always what he could add behind the scenes and if he could ultimately help MacDonald dissect and formulate the equations to beat the Rams. (To me) each win over the Rams is worth at least $5m a piece at this point. Win those two games and the NFC West is ours to lose.

Completely agreed. Unless I'm reading this wrong, the Seahawks have $88M in cap space and only $665K in dead money next year. JS had done a masterful job completely rebuilding our decrepit roster and jacked up cap. Shaheed completes this offense. Our WR trio is legitimately scary (JSN-Shaheed-Horton with Kupp in situationally), we have dynamic tight ends, we're deep at RB, we have a dang FB. And Kubiak calls and Darnold throws the prettiest deep ball in the league right now. After getting embarrassed in NO all year, Shaheed is going to love joining this electric team and young culture.

Love/hate this trade because we gave up not much/too much for a potentially impactful role player/half season rental who will see limited play.
You don't know if it's a rental. I have heard that term so many times here in Seattle. Only to see John re sign a guy. When will people learn this simple fact? Immediately assuming someone is a rental. How original 😅

IF he doesn’t re sign with the team after the season, THEN it's a rental. Until then, I'm not assuming anything. In fact, I won't be mildly surprised if he's on the roster in 2026 and going forward.
Go Hawks

Awwww let's just address the elephant in the room from my side. I was truly hoping Bobo would get more playing time and light it up. Unfortunately, i'm starting to believe i'm going to be wearing a black arm band soon due to his departure that i'll be placing right next to my other arm band for Amber Lancaster.

Surrendering a couple Day 3 picks is inconsequential when you have the league's second-youngest team, more than 90 percent of whom will continue to serve well on the roster for the 2026 season and beyond.

We have several interesting players injured/practice squad that could be part of the team's future as well, such as Rylie Mills, Cody White, Ricky White, Jamie Sheriff, Jacardia Wright. I LOVE draft picks, but we are flush with young talent everywhere now.

If Seattle wins the Super Bowl, I don't see this trade as being the deciding factor.

Maybe in a vacuum, but winning the SB takes luck built off a combination of roster "edges". We just added one more edge to that end.

This is a good statement that puts the trade in perspective a bit for me.

But, I immediately think of the intangibles…what his presence will do for guys like JSN getting even more open due to the decrease in two high safety sets and/or double teams.

Just my personal opinion but considering our priority of need (Guard…another LB), I don’t rate this trade as better than average just yet. Caveat: there weren’t any guards or reputable LBer’s moved/available. You still have to factor the NEED in the equation though.

With that said, I give this trade a C with that increasing to a B, B+ if a new contract is worked out soon or in the offseason.

Dude can spread the field. He’s fast as hell. He’s one helluva kick/punt returner. And now, he’s going to be paired with whom I consider as the current best QB and WR in the league.

Ask yourself this question…Do you trust this staff and FO? I do. After PC leaving, JS and MM have been on fire. Just a season ago, we looked very middle of the road…lost our offensive core. How many teams immediately bounce back after that?

JS and MM are doing their homework. Kubiak obviously approved. Yah…call it blind faith but, I believe in these guys and if they were all on board, so am I.
