Seahawks Trade for NO WR Rashid Shaheed

You don't know if it's a rental. I have heard that term so many times here in Seattle. Only to see John re sign a guy. When will people learn this simple fact? Immediately assuming someone is a rental. How original

IF he doesn’t re sign with the team after the season, THEN it's a rental. Until then, I'm not assuming anything. In fact, I won't be mildly surprised if he's on the roster in 2026 and going forward.

Why am I being being dragged into an actual argument about Shaheed from a facetious post where I'm talking out both sides of my mouth? Well, okay. I can be a "I know Shaheed is a rental" guy for this post:

Some rentals, like apartments, can go for years on end, similar to how NFL contracts can go for years on end. Every NFL player could be called a rental given the non-permanent nature of their contracts. Therefore, Shaheed is a "rental" whether he is being "rented" for half a season or "rented" for half a season + the duration he's retained during any extension(s). With that definition, and the untold glory and uselessness of turning this into a semantic argument instead of competing predictions, I know Shaheed is a rental and this will be true regardless of whether he renews his lease with us or not.

This is a good statement that puts the trade in perspective a bit for me.

But, I immediately think of the intangibles…what his presence will do for guys like JSN getting even more open due to the decrease in two high safety sets and/or double teams.

Just my personal opinion but considering our priority of need (Guard…another LB), I don’t rate this trade as better than average just yet. Caveat: there weren’t any guards or reputable LBer’s moved/available. You still have to factor the NEED in the equation though.

With that said, I give this trade a C with that increasing to a B, B+ if a new contract is worked out soon or in the offseason.

Dude can spread the field. He’s fast as hell. He’s one helluva kick/punt returner. And now, he’s going to be paired with whom I consider as the current best QB and WR in the league.

Ask yourself this question…Do you trust this staff and FO? I do. After PC leaving, JS and MM have been on fire. Just a season ago, we looked very middle of the road…lost our offensive core. How many teams immediately bounce back after that?

JS and MM are doing their homework. Kubiak obviously approved. Yah…call it blind faith but, I believe in these guys and if they were all on board, so am I.

No doubt. Quite a few times over the years. I like his approach. See how a guy fits here, let the guy decide if he likes playing here and wants to stick around. And, the coach has to believe in the guy. It has helped them retain a lot of really good players over the years.

It could very well be a significant contributing factor though.

The positive take is on the left side of the / and the negative take on the right throughout the sentence. It's dumb. It's weird, but sometimes people find it funny. Focusing on one take expressed in a facetious post comes off like a cherry pick. Just take a second before you try to "gotcha" people lol.

And I will add, I caught a segment on GMFB this morning about all the trades at the deadline yesterday. Mike Garrafolo and Kyle Brandt were full on gushing over how much they love this trade for the Seahawks.

I don't think I've seen a single pundit not love this move, if that matters to anyone. Mina Kimes was on Chris Long the other day, they all loved it. Just about everybody loves what this brings to the Seahawks.

But those couple people that don't like it get this place in a frenzy... every single time.
