Inside the Russell Wilson-Seattle Seahawks drama that led to the Denver Broncos trade

I only read this article this morning and found it to be very detailed and insightful with its length and depth. I've been ambivalent about ESPN sources but this is one of a few I would actually recommend. It's point of view gives equal credence to both "sides of the story".

I just re-read the article and have to say I almost pity Wilson. Yeah , I know it's hard to pity a dude that has 165MM guaranteed deal but what I'm talking about is a guy that seems very unaware of where/what he is at this point in his career , which is a 30+ year old short, mobile QB who isn't very mobile at this point. Like the article said , guys like Brady and Brees were able to adjust their games but that was never going to be Wilson's deal.

All he had to do was be gracious in his exit. Thank the organization, players and most of all the best fans in the world. His I'll advised parting shots were childish at best and made him look bitter and silly. I thought he had advisors to help with his public image.

Had he done this, he could've had a standing ovation on his MNF return instead we have a 25 page thread of vitriol .

And here I am.

Golden Tate thinks Russ threw him under the bus over affair rumors.

Yeah that's uncool . Tate said he asked wilson more than once to just clear the matter up and have his back , he said he used to have Wilson over for dinners and for his birthday .

I think of Wilson worse than yesterday. If that's possible.

I am being completely honest in saying that the Seahawks didn't need Wilson to win an owl. With that defense and running game they could've won with Ryan Fitzpatrick. IMHO of course

If anything like this happened, you’d expect Russ to Be uncomfortable about attempting to push his current wife’s sex appeal to his teammates and coaches when he’s exactly the opposite.

From listening to different interviews I've gotten the idea that he isn't a good teammate or friend. He was more worried about MVPs and passing stats.
He wanted to be in that elite club with the boys . The fact that Carroll was so hesitant to part ways puzzles me.

After the trade, Wilson's only farewell was a 6-word tweet, "Seattle I love you forever grateful." Nothing else, no Instagram story, no video good-bye. Instead, he started to immediately trash the team, the most notable remark being the one where he said he was happy to be with the Broncos because he would no longer "have to carry the team." That was the statement that made Richard Sherman go berserk. One can only imagine what other players on the team, like Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf thought about that.

This was after he had already gone on national TV and radio, trashing his offensive line and saying that he was sick and tired of the Seahawks not spending any draft capital on offensive linemen, which is not true. Since Wilson has been around, they have drafted Ifedi (1st round), Britt (2nd), Odhiambo (2nd), Pocic (2nd) and Lewis (3rd). True, they might not have all worked out, but it wasn't for lack of trying. In addition, they traded for Duane Brown.

Yes.

Don't forget he was glad he was finally in a city that wanted to win. Or something like that.

That's one of the things about him -- he tends to suck at choosing his advisors.

All the other stuff Russ did is mostly cringe worthy. Makes you roll your eyes and laugh at him. No more harm than that. But if this situation went down the way Golden says with Russ hanging him out to dry, that is such a crap (wanted to use stronger language) move treating a friend like that. No decent person would do that.
