I hate all things bronco related - in watching that failure of a franchise gag their way to even more extended misery - I find myself saddened that Bo Nix did not gin himself up a snappy slogan like ME3. I wish he had and furthermore wish it would have been....."It's Bo Time!".

The irony of that - while seeing at one point in yesterday's game he had completed 16 passes for a net of 17 yards would have been too delicious.

F Donk Forever.

and ever.

Sorry about the threadjacking - Pittsburgh starting ME3 is a bad call in my opinion. You are 4-2 not doing badly and you are going to put a slow-ass Wilson behind that line?

Bad call.

I'm not surprised he's getting his shot, he's done everything to get that opportunity that I can tell. I just wonder if Tomlin is ready for a controversy if Russ plays well-ish and he inadvertently divides the fanbase regardless of which direction he goes in after this weekend.

Tomlin figures that if Wilson regresses he can always go back to the other QB in Fields. Keep in mind the Steelers play the long game and are wanting to evaluate both QBs once they reach the off season to decide which one they keep IMO.

He is being showcased, trade if he looks adequate, if he crashes then Fields gets respect and the controversy is done. If Tomlin sticks with him then controversy happens, Tomlin loses his job, Belichick may like Pissburgh.

Sorry, I respectfully disagree with your opinion. When Wilson couldn't move his finger, yet insist on starting at the expense of the team. That made him an azz.
No, that means that the head coach is an azz. He's the one who should have grabbed the bull by the horns and told Russell he was benched.

Not likely. There's plenty out there on Russell. For better or worse, he's a known quantity. There's no need to showcase him. Either a team wants him or they don't.

Makes sense to give it a go now.

If he sucks, Tomlin goes back to Fields but still has a winning record. Build game plans around Fields for the rest of the season. ...maybe even extend him.

If RCW plays well, Tomlin keeps playing him for now and looks like a genius for winning with 2 rejects (when it's really more indicative of the D...but whatever). Perhaps build some trade value for the offseason...or even just high comp pick/s.

Seems smart, to me, to find out how he fits early in the season. If it costs a W, better to do it now as opposed to wait for a division opponent late in the season....

I think RCW will have pretty good personal stats but the team loses.

Aged Vet had an injury, his game is movement, showcasing his health is what is needed, not his stat sheet. You don't want to trade for a guy that can't play and be on IR after the first practice or game.

I disagree. You can prove your physical health in a workout/medical physical. Besides, you don't showcase a quarterback, the most important player on the field, when you're leading your division. The Steelers have plenty of justification for thinking that this could be their year.

If the Steelers start Russell this weekend, it's because they feel that he gives them the best chance to win now. That's why they brought him in in the first place. Why else would you bring in a 35-year QB then give him the pole position in the QB room? I don't understand why it's so difficult for people to understand that not everyone thinks as they do that Russell is trash. It's apparent that he still has coaches and teammates who believe in him.

Having said that, I personally don't believe that Russell gives the Steelers the best chance to win now. They have their problems on offense, and Fields mitigates those problems to some degree with his mobility. He's accounted for 10 of their 11 TD's while turning the ball over just once. I don't think that Russell can improve on that.

The Steelers have a top 10 defense, ranked 2nd in points allowed and 8th in yards, and they need a game manager-type quarterback who doesn't turn the ball over or take ugly sacks that puts their defense in a bad position, much like what Russell did for us during our SB years. That's exactly what Fields has been doing for them.

Way too much hatred for Wilson.
If he doesn't show he has anything left in the tank then he'll have a choice of being a backup for a couple years to pad his bank account a little or just retire.

Not a fun D to be up against. Selfishly can he get the ball to Pickens for my fantasy team??

They said it in the countdown to TNF
When I had asked this question, I couldn't find any news on Russ replacing Fields. I'm glad it came to fruition though. The Me3 train wreck is always a fun addition to the football weekend.

He looked ‘thin’ in a recent interview. Like, perhaps he’s been hitting the gym hard.

We’ll see.

I will have popcorn ready if Wilson plays well and Geno struggles.
