Lions have just confirmed they will not be franchise tagging Suh.

Absolutely. First, negotiations with unrestricted free agents can begin a couple days early, and second, the deadline is mid day March 10, 4 PM eastern IIRC. That doesn't mean Suh will know where he is going by then, but a few guys will know for sure.original poster":1p1qcmht said:Largent80":1p1qcmht said:Well, 8 days from now we should all know.
Do you think we will get various FA moves announced on the actual day?

Good point, I forgot they can start officially talking a couple of days before!
It'll be an exciting day, that's for sure.

He actually is right and it is true. The cap is rising and has been rising by a great amount and will only keep increasing by large chunks, something that hasn't happened before...Popeyejones":3mvkeyxk said:kearly":3mvkeyxk said:Remember, the salary cap is rising at historic rates right now.
Nitpicking to follow (), but not true. It's the biggest jump since 2006, but nowhere close to a historic rate. Between 2005 and 2006 the cap went up by 20%.
If anything 2011 and 2012 were a brief flat cap era, whereas this is getting back to normal.
The Lions announced they will not use the franchise tag on DT Ndamukong Suh.
Due to previous contract restructures, franchising Suh would have cost the Lions an unruly $26.7M. So now it's official: If there's no long-term deal with Detroit in place by March 10, Suh will hit the open market as the NFL's No. 1 free agent. He'll obviously command interest from cap-rich teams all over the league even though he wants to be the NFL's highest paid defender -- topping J.J. Watt's six-year, $100M extension that included $51.8M in guarantees. The Detroit Free Press speculates bidders will include the Lions, Jaguars, Jets, Colts and Raiders. Suh has been a top-4 tackle in PFF's grades in each of the last three seasons, anchored 2014's No. 2 overall defense and has missed just two games in his five-year caree

Ain't he a bit big to have a vertical?
