In this mock I have the Seahawks trading their 1st round pick #32 to the Chargers for their 2nd round pick #55 and their 3rd round pick #86. The Seahawks board gets wiped out by the time their selection at #32...Malachi Lawrence (OLB/DE), Zion Young (OLB/DE), Akheem Mesidor (OLB/DE), Kayden McDonald (DT), Emmanuel Pregnon (OG), Colton Hood (CB), Avieon Terrell (CB), and Chris Johnson (CB) are already drafted before #32 in this scenario.

Draft

2nd round #55 (from Chargers) - (OG) Keylan Rutledge 6'4" 316 lbs, Georgia Tech:
Keylan is my favorite OG in this draft for the Seahawks. I've seen some people rate Rutledge as the second or third best OG in the draft, which lines up my rankings of the OGs. He didn't allow a sack this past year and had a good zone blocking grade of 77.4. I read somewhere that JS wants to have and "old school" offensive line, meaning bully and imposing in the run game. If that is true, Rutledge fits the bill. Rutledge is a finisher and always looks to bury defensive lineman into the ground. He is also a fairly good athlete, so he's a fit in an our zone blocking system. Keylan's comp is OG Tate Ratledge, who was drafted in the 2nd round pick #57 by the Lions last year. Tate was one of the best rookie offensive lineman last year, and I think Keylan can be a plug and play and be one of the best rookie offensive lineman next year. We would have an elite offensive line with this pick.

This dude talks tough and backs it up on the field!

2nd round #64 - (WR) Elijah Sarratt 6'2" 213 lbs, Indiana: Sarratt is a tough, competitive dude. He has great hands, good at adjusting his body to off target passes, and is good at high pointing the ball in tight coverage. He is considered a good blocker and good at finding open spaces in zone coverage. While he is not quick twitch or fast, the guy just makes plays (leads current WRs in career TDs with 44). He plays with a chip on his shoulder, remicent of Doug Baldwin's mentality. I see him being a big slot WR for us, which would be a good compliment to JSN and Sheed/Horton. He had a 30-visit with the Seahawks as well.

3rd round #86 (from Chargers) - (OLB) Keyron Crawford 6'4" 255 lbs, Auburn: JS taps into Auburn once again for a pass rusher (Derick Hall in 2023). Crawford has the size and athleticism that I think fits best for our OLB. He looks like a fluid athlete when rushing the passer, but he needs to develop his pass rush moves. He had 9.5 tackles for loss, 5 sacks, 36 tackles and a 18.3% pass rush win rate. He is still fairly young, 22 years old, so he still has a lot of upside to tap into. Situational pass rusher as rookie with ability to be a future starter opposite Derick Hall.

3rd round #96 - (FS/CB) VJ Payne 6'3" 206 lbs, Kansas State: Looking at the Seahawks 30-visits, it seems like they are looking for a safety that has shown the ability to also play the nickel CB. Payne is one of those players in this draft that can do both. He is more FS that can play over the slot as opposed to Kilgore and A.J. Haulcy who are more SS than can over the slot. Payne has great range when watching him, he backed it up with a 4.40 40-yard, with a 1.52 10-yard split. He has good length for a DB at 6'3" tall, 33 3/4 inch arm length, and a great wing span of almost 81 inches. He is a team leader and comes across as a intelligent player in his interviews. I see him playing nickel CB as a rookie and backing up FS.

6th round #188 - (RB) Roman Hemby 6'0" 210 lbs, Indiana: Hemby is an older prospect, but he has nice quickness, good speed, and good contact balance well worth a late round pick. I think could contribute immediately as a rookie.

This draft gives the Seahawks an elite run blocking offensive line, which enables us to impose our will on opposing defenses. Our WR room would be more well rounded with a variety of skill sets. Also more speed and depth for the defense, both defensive players could become future starters in the near future. Hemby or just about anybody would succeed running behind Cross, Zabel, Sundell, Rutledge, and Lucas.

Here is a quick video of (OLB/DE) Keyron Crawford working out at the Auburn Pro day. His agility really stands out in his workout.

Interesting choices. I wouldn't have thought of these selections, but I rarely guess what JS is going to do. This is why I like this board.
