The league has a hard on for us it's BS .

Here we go, it's a conspiracy theory!

BS, what makes us a great team is also our worst enemy, over-aggressiveness. Sorry dude, but we deserved EVERY one of those penalties yesterday. Sherm held like a mo-fo, Robinson did shove his hand into the D-Lineman's face and Schofield did run into the punt returner for no reason. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

This teams plays fast, loose and aggressive. The downside is this sort of play leads to penalties.

While I don't subscribe to conspiracy theories for the most part, and don't believe it played a part in the 9er game, I think there is an advantage afforded to larger-market teams, whether direct or indirect, that sometimes tilts officiating in their favor.

One thing I know for sure, you probably are correct for the most part in this regard, but I notice a trend in your posts. Most all of them appear to be so hard-over contrarian that I'm worried you will pull a muscle trying to appear objective. It's a tired act.

You mean like NE (#2) , the Colts (#3), and the Saints (#9) ?

We're going to get tagged occasionally for defensive holding/pass interference, and it's mostly due to our style of play. Last Sunday, the refs were not as forgiving, perhaps due to the Niners incessant whining over the past few weeks. I don't want us changing our style of play. Our corners are good at what they do, but they are not fast enough to keep up with some of the real speed burners in this league unless they can impede their progress in getting out on their routes. I'd rather give up an occasional PI than a long TD.

The penalty that pissed me off the most was the fair catch interference. That was completely preventable. If we can eliminate the stupid penalties like that, the ones that are under our complete control, then I'm OK with most of the other stuff so long as the refs are calling them both ways, which it seemed to me like they were last Sunday.

the thing that gripes me with penalties is WHEN we receive them and what impact they have

See below ours and SF's penalties in the last game.

4 yard run called back for holding (-14 net)
sacked for 5 yards, delay of game pre-snap (-5 but no loss of down)
16 yard pass called back for OPI (-26 net)
incomplete pass on 3rd and 11, defensive holding, 5 yards automatic first down
incomplete pass on 2nd and 8, defensive holding, 5 yards automatic first down
personal foul on punt (bogus facemask by Lane -15)
20 yard run by lynch called back for facemask (-35 net)
personal foul on fair catch (-15)
false start on 4th down punt (-5)

offside on 2nd and 12 makes 2nd and 7
false start on 1st and 10 (-5 but no loss of down)
OPI on incomplete pass (-10 net)
15 yards for taunting after 4 yard run on 1st down
15 yard penalty for unnecessary roughness on punt return (-15 added onto end of return)
offensive holding on punt return (-17 net)
hands to the face on 15 yard pass that converted third down (-25 net)

Only that last one was a really unfavourable call for SF as Kaepernick then got sacked on the third down, in comparison we had 2 big plays called back and a drive ended by a third down incompletion instead being extended. We were roughly penalised as often as each other, but the calls against us were much more costly.

That's what really gripes me. I don't doubt that we are often at fault and a lot of penalties are legitimate, but the inconsistency of when they're thrown and the unbalanced benefit irritate me.

So if PC was as whiney and insistant as JH we might have faired better in the flag throwing?

That is a great breakdown and shows how those penalties more than likely left points on the field.

I'm only contrarian when it's merited.......and this board it's merited A LOT with all the looney conspiracy theorists and everybody hates us whiners.

Other than that I'm a warm, fuzzy, gentle, lovable, generous beyond a fault, good looking and gosh darn it a fun loving forum goer.
