Passan is usually pretty good. Great news! Jerry hit a homer when he grabbed this guy. Nice to see us keep him around for a few years.

3 all star hitters to build around and win many division titles.
Now do they land Bregman, Bichette, Tucker, or Murakami? This is going to be a WILD offseason, get ready lads.

In other news, 3rd base coach Negron is going to Pittsburgh.

The question might be what salary can we find a way to dump without hurting us too bad, how much payroll increase do we get to work with, and how smart we are in spending whatever that number is to bring in a couple of higher OBP guys and round out the staff? We all know that we were lacking a few more savvy contact hitters who had a better feel for the strike zone.

I wonder what payroll flexibility will look like with root sports being gone. Will definitely play a role. Both Mitches coming off the books helps. If there was ever a time to go all in its now or never.
Naylor is an awesome start.

And in the end, the M's won something the Dodgers, Blue Jays, Yankees, Tigers, Astros, Brewers, Phillies, etc. all lost out on: the privilege of having the services of one of the most invaluable and popular players on the planet -- a top-tier first baseman, hitter, and influential clubhouse presence -- for the coming season and beyond. WE WON BIG TIME!

This is huge. There was no other real options out there and he feels like such a good fit and could hit at t-mobile. Feels like this opens up so many options now this is done with regards to getting Polanco, 3rd baseman, high leverage reliever. Also got some prospects that may pop this year. I think there is something in the Skubal thing. Seems odd the mariners would be getting mentioned with him otherwise and he does have the Seattle U connection. Guessing it would involve Castillo, Ford and other prospects.

The timing of the deal is interesting too. Yanks were probably about to sign him they need a first baseman but instead finally a moment where the Ms said, "ok "insert all star here" what do you want lets get something done right now". If they waited any longer he's probably gone.

The Skubal thing isn't something I'd personally put much weight on. The guy's going to be a FA at the end of next season. Does anyone really think we'd pony up the money it would take to resign him? Otherwise he's a costly one year rental player, albeit a great one, who'd still cost us a ton to acquire if he is available. Sure, I'd love to have him.

5 years/$92.5 mill. I was thinking $100 mill, so I call it a bargain. :)

The Seattle Mariners have re-signed first baseman Josh Naylor to a five-year contract on the free-agent market, the club announced on Monday. The deal will be worth $92.5 million and includes a no-trade clause, according to FanSided. This marks the first major free-agent signing of the offseason.

No trade clause, nice.
