Josh Naylor! Sign him
A clutch player. A real hitter, they get more and more locked in as the game goes on, but at the end, they have already had all their warm ups, at the end they don’t miss. All sports are like that, elite. Naylor is one of the best hitters I’ve seen

They were talking up Geno as the best offensive player available at the deadline... no way, Naylor was the best get.

Glad he fully rebounded from this:
Off the bat of Polanco when he was with Minny

Naylor is not signing any extension until the season is over. He's an unrestricted free agent, and he's going to test the open market. He's considered one of the top free agents this coming off-season.

That being said, I don't think Naylor is going to command a salary that the Mariners can't afford. ESPN projects that Naylor will get a contract around $52.5 million over 3 years.

This season, he has an OPS of .812 and a 2.8 WAR, pretty good numbers. And there aren't that many good first basemen available in free agency this year. So he could end up getting a lot of interest.

Well, he talks like he would want to stay. While I don't expect a "home town discount," if they can make a competitive offer he might be motivated to stay. Would be nice to have him there for a few years, especially since I don't think we have anybody coming up for first base.

There's a silver lining here.. He genuinely seems like he loves it here.

Not only is he clutch, but he is also intense and super baseball smart. He does the little things that most don't see. I have wanted him on the M's for 3 years, I finally got my wish.

Yep, good post. If the M's want to keep him, they're going to need to make a competitive offer. I can't imagine he's going to give the M's any kind of "discount" because he played here for 2 months, even if he does like it here.
