Bluejay's JUST miss the World Series title and they are adding friggen talent... starting pitcher, Relief pitcher, etc etc

WE signed Naylor... which I love.. but.. other than that?

Williamson, Young and Emerson are not going to change our outlook.. at all. Young isn't going to be Polanco of last year.... JP wasn't bad but he was CONSISTENT esp at the lower spot in the lineup. Can Emerson prove that in the bigs... in his FIRST year?

Hell if we had kept Hernandez we would have had a tremendously better outfield for several years like the Dodgers..


What says everyone.... Unless Cal has another career year with Julio behind him.... this doesn't look much different. (yes yes I know its early... but the good teams are already jumping)

I don't love the Blue Jays' signings. Dylan Cease for $210 million and Cody Ponce for $30 million? Cease had an ERA of 4.55 and a WHIP of 1.33 last year for the Padres. Ponce is a journeyman who had ONE good year in the Korean baseball league. Bo Bichette is a free agent this year, and you're going to spend money on Dylan Cease?

I'm pretty sure people here would kill Dipoto if those were his offseason signings.

But I agree that Dipoto's got to get a quality player for 2B, 3B or DH.

Im ok with 3rd and 2nd going forward... Contact hitters etc if we go with Williamson and Young... but we need a power DH.... Id honestly want Schwarber at DH instead of Geno

Me too and yet, we know the Mariners aren't going to spend $150 million/5 years for Schwarber. But he would also be a bad fit for the Mariners because he doesn't have any positional flexibility. He plays only 5 or 6 games a season in the outfield now, and the Mariners want to be able to give Cal enough games at DH to give him a break from catching without losing his bat in the lineup.

Really, Jorge Polanco remains the best fit for the Mariners. He can DH or play in the infleld, and will allow the Mariners to try a combination of the youngsters--Young, Williamson and Emerson--at the same time. There really are no better FA 2B/3B options on the market (except for the 2 expensive options--Bregman and Suarez), so I hope Dipoto gets this done. I doubt he gets the 3-year $42 million deal that he's looking for reportedly, but I could live with something less than that, either in terms of dollars or years.

I am hoping Marte comes home. Polanco is good but could have another injury plagued year. If we get Marte would have him for awhile and be an upgrade. Diamondbacks want pitching...the numbers could balance out nicely.
